The 2019-20 season marks Heather (Greer) McKay 13th season as head coach of Messiah College women's lacrosse and, once again, she will lead a program considered among the best in the nation. In 2018 the Falcons won the MAC Commonwealth Championship for the fourth-straight season. It was the sixth conference title under McKay, and she was named the conference Coach of the Year for an unprecedented fifth-straight season. A 2002 graduate of Messiah College, McKay took over the program following a brilliant playing career for the Falcons, serving as a four-year starter at the middie/attack position. Highly regarded for her presence as an athlete and leader, McKay was team captain as a senior and led the team’s offensive front. McKay's 169 total points place her 10th on Messiah’s career points list*, while she was a three-time MAC All-Conference selection and a four-time member of the MAC Conference All-Academic Team. When McKay was appointed head coach for the 2008 season, she wasted no time in raising the level of play within the Falcons’ ranks, leading her 2011 and 2009 squads to victories in the MAC Commonwealth Championship and appearances in the NCAA Tournament — just the second and third times the program has achieved either feat in their history. In 2012, Greer made it three-straight trips to the NCAAs as Messiah advanced to the Regional Semifinals.Messiah equaled its best finish to date in the NCAA Tournament in 2012, advancing to the Regional Semifinals after hosting an NCAA First Round game for just the second time in school history.

McKay's coaching numbers have been nothing short of incredible. After posting a win-loss record of 10-7 in her first year at the helm, Messiah has gone 136-50 since. The Falcons have won an astounding 94 of 100 conference regular-season league games under McKay. Messiah has boasted the MAC Rookie of the Year in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014, and 2016. A total of 37 Falcons have been named All-Metro Region under McKay, compared to just eight in the previous 11 years of the program. The Falcons have also earned 13 IWLCA All-Americans under McKay, eclipsing the three prior to McKay's arrival.

After four years as a Falcon, Kendra Herbenar returns to the women's lacrosse program as a part of the 2019 coaching staff. Herbenar, a 2018 graduate, played an integral part of her team’s success as she started all 19 games during her senior campaign and collected 92 draw controls, 67 groundballs, and 57 caused turnovers. In her career, Herbenar finished third in program history in caused turnovers (128), 10th in draw controls, and tied for sixth in games played (74). She also tied the program record for most caused turnovers in a game with eight against Buffalo State on Mar. 27, 2018. Following her senior season, she was named MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Year, First Team All-MAC Commonwealth, First Team IWLCA All-Metro Region, was selected to IWLCA Senior All-Star Game, and Second Team IWLCA All-American. Ashley Doyle is new to the Falcon's women's lacrosse coaching staff and brings a wealth of experience to the sidelines with her from Rhodes College. Doyle was a standout lacrosse player for the Lynx as she became the first player in Rhodes women's lacrosse program history to be selected for the Senior All-Star Games held each year. During her senior season, Doyle started all 19 games and tallied 52 goals with 21 assists while collecting 141 draw controls, 48 groundballs, and 29 caused turnovers. At the conclusion of her senior campaign, Doyle was awarded 1st Team All SAA (Southern Athletic Association) and 1st Team IWLCA All-West Region. Doyle is currently receiving her Masters from Messiah in Higher Education with a concentration in College Athletic Leadership.
