ASHLAND LITTLE LEAGUE
2024 LEAGUE CONSTRUCT
The information below is to define what can be expected of each division for the Spring 2024 season. And to help parents determine the correct placement during registration.
Challengers:
Schedule: 1 Weeknight Practice; 1 Saturday Game
The Challenger program is for any child ages 4-18 (22 if still in school), who has intellectual or physical challenges. It is best described as "adaptive baseball" so that those with special needs may enjoy the full benefits of Little League.
Beginner Tee Ball:
Schedule: 1 Weeknight Practice; 1 Saturday Game
Tee-ball division is for boys and girls ages 4–5 WITH or WITHOUT a season of Tee Ball experience. Tee Ball is the Introduction to Little League with an emphasis on beginner skills development mixed with fun. There are no scores or standings kept for this division. There are no tryouts for this division; teams will be assigned by the league’s Player Agent, most times using a Little Leagues random computer program. Personal requests to play with friends, etc. may be honored at this level when possible. Requests to practice/play on specific days will NOT be honored.
Coach Pitch Baseball:
Schedule: 1 Weeknight Practice; 1 Saturday Game
Coach Pitch division is for boys and girls ages 5-6 WITH a SPRING season of Tee Ball experience for 5 Year Old's. Coach Pitch will introduce coach pitching with an emphasis on basic skills development. No scores or standings will be kept. Mandatory Infield/Outfield requirements will be enforced. There are no tryouts for this division; teams will be assigned by the league’s Player Agent, most times using a Little Leagues random computer program. Personal requests to play with friends, etc. may be honored at this level when possible. Requests to practice/play on specific days will NOT be honored.
Coach Pitch Softball (when enough players register):
Schedule: 1 Weeknight Practice; 1 Saturday Game
Coach Pitch division is for girls ages 5-6 WITH a SPRING season of Tee Ball experience for 5 Year Old's. Coach Pitch will introduce coach pitching with an emphasis on basic skills development. Machine Pitch introduces an automated machine to pitch to batters and will place an emphasis position player development and continued development of the basic skills. Scores and standings are kept. Requests to practice/play on specific days will NOT be honored.
Machine Pitch Softball:

Schedule: 1 Weeknight Practice; 1 Weeknight Game and 1 Saturday Game
The Minor League Baseball division is for boys and girls ages 9–10, players who are not drafted into the Minors Division will be eligible to be drafted into the Machine Pitch Division if they meet the age requirements of the Machine Pitch division. 8 Year Olds must attend evaluations to be considered eligible for Minors and must have one season of Machine Pitch. The Minors Division is the introduction to player pitching with a continued emphasis on player development. Scores and standings are kept. Player Evaluations are required for this division and players are placed on teams via the draft process. Personal requests to play with friends, etc. will NOT be honored at this level. Requests to practice/play on specific days will NOT be honored.
Minors Softball:
Schedule: 1 Weeknight Practice; 1 Weeknight Game and 1 Saturday Game
The Minor League Softball division is for girls ages 9–10, players who are not drafted into the Minors Division will be eligible to be drafted into the Machine Pitch Division if they meet the age requirements of the Machine Pitch Division. 8 Year Olds must attend evaluations to be considered eligible for Minors and must have one season of Machine Pitch. The Minors Division is the introduction to player pitching with a continued emphasis on player development. Scores and standings are kept. The Little League Baseball Division (sometimes known as the Major Division) is for boys and girls ages 11–12, players 10 and under that tryout and are not selected for this division will be eligible to be drafted in the Minors Division. Scores and standings are kept. Player Evaluations are required for this division and players are placed on teams via the draft process. This Division plays by regulation Little League rules and would be considered the most competitive division for the eligible age group. Personal requests to play with friends, etc. will NOT be honored at this level. Requests to practice/play on specific days will NOT be honored.
Majors Softball:
Schedule: 1 Weeknight Practice (additional practices as field and coaches available); 1 Weeknight Game and 1 Saturday Game
The Little League Softball Division (sometimes known as the Major Division) is for girls ages 11–12, players 10 and under that tryout and are not selected for this division will have the option to play in the Minors Division. 50/70 Baseball:
Schedule: 1 Weeknight Practice (additional practices as field and coaches available); 1 Weeknight Game and 1 Saturday Game
The 50/70 Baseball Division (sometimes known as the Intermediate Division) is for boys ages 11-13. Scores and standings are kept. Player Evaluations are required for this division and players are placed on teams via draft process. 11- and 12-year-old must tryout, if they are not selected for this division, they will have the option to play in the Majors division. This division is intended for players who are of advanced skill and a highly competitive division. The Intermediate (50/70) Baseball Division utilizes a 50-foot pitching distance and 70-foot base paths. Personal requests to play with friends, etc. will NOT be honored at this level. Requests to practice/play on specific days will NOT be honored.
Juniors Baseball:
Schedule: 1 Weeknight Practice (additional practices as field and coaches available); 1 Weeknight Game and 1 Saturday Game
The Junior League Baseball Division is a program for boys and girls ages 13–14, using a conventional 90-foot diamond with a pitching distance of 60 feet 6 inches. Scores and standings are kept. Tryouts could be required for this division and players could be placed on teams via the draft process depending on the enrollment numbers for a particular season. Personal requests to play with friends, etc. will NOT be honored at this level. Requests to practice/play on specific days will NOT be honored and involves travel to further league parks.
