Challenger League
The Challenger League enables boys and girls with physical and mental disabilities, ages 5-18 to enjoy the game of baseball along with the millions of other children who participate in this sport worldwide. The Challenger League games are played on Friday nights at the Greenwood Little League diamonds.
Rookies
Rookies - 4-5 year olds. Coach pitch; each child gets 5 pitches and if not successful, hits off a tee. No score is kept. Very instructional and non-competitive.
A (Single A)
Single A - 5-7 year olds. Coach pitch; score and win/loss records are kept. Each player must play a minimum of 2 infield innings and a maximum of 4 outfield innings. Players rotate to all positions. Instructional and non-competitive.
AA (Double A)
Double A - 7 & 8 year olds. Player and coach pitch. Players will rotate to all positions, playing time is as equally as possible (everyone will sit the bench). Steailng is introduced, only on passed balls. Instructional league.
AAA (Triple A)
Triple A - 9 & 10 year olds. Players begin to gain experience at certain positions ... but coaches will still rotate. Fundamentals and enhanced play options are taught; instructional and competitive.
Intermediate (50/70)
Intermediate (50/70) - 11-13 year olds. This is competitive division where full Little League rules are enforced. Pitching becomes paramount, accuracy is stressed, changing speeds is taught, stretch vs. windup, etc. Double plays, rundowns, directional batting and bunting are enhanced. Player rotation can be limited.
Seniors
Senior Division - 13-16-year olds. Played on a high-school size field. Player rotation can be limited. Highly competitive and advanced play.
