Barton Outfitters Youth Summer Fishing Camp is an immersive, instructive and practical fishing experience where youth ages 6-16 will learn about fishing ecology, fish biology, angling rules/ethics/regulations, fish identification, knot tying, basic rigging, casting, species targeting, lure making, trot line and gross fishing, and cleaning and cooking your catch. Participants will have the opportunity to fish each day for a variety of species at a local body of water including bass, catfish and crappie, culminating with two days of guided fishing on Sardis Lake with local licensed fishing guides. 

Day camp is our primary fishing camp offering and will largely follow the format of our 2024 camps. Depending on the bite and weather conditions, we will fish primarily at Sardis Lake or Enid Lake. Drop off will be communicated prior to the first day of camp (and adjusted, if necessary, by communication via text). Day camp is run by the CPR and First aid-Certified, Licensed Professional Fishing Guides of Barton Outfitters. We also employ CPR and First Aid certified counselors who are subject to stringent background checks. Campers will receive a hat, fishing rod and fillets of their catch, ready for the table. On poor weather days, we will meet at Lamar Park/Lake Patsy.

All participants will receive a rod/reel combo and hat.

Camps are for kids ages 5-13 during Summer Break. This year, the camps will run from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday-Friday. The first session will be May 27th - May 30th, the second session will be June 2nd - June 27th, and the third session will be July 8th - July 31st. The camp is full of activities with field trips, swimming, arts and crafts, tabletop games and much more. We will have lunch at the Oxford Intermediate School. If you have a picky eater, you may let them, bring lunch. Breakfast is provided if your child is here by 7:45am and lunch is provided as well. Each kid is required to bring two snacks a day. We do a lot of running activities, so please wear suitable clothing, as well as tennis shoes. You will receive an email with protocols and monthly calendars a week before camp starts.

(If you aren't able to register your child online, we are offering an additional opportunity starting Monday, March 31st at the Coach Howell Activity Center at starting 8 a.m.)

Paddles in the Park Pickleball Tournament will be a Round Robin tournament. It will be held at Avent Park (102 Park Dr, Oxford, MS 38655). Avent Park has 12 Pickleball courts painted on 4 tennis courts. We will be playing with the PENN 40 outdoor ball for 3.5 and below and the Franklin X40 for advance players. In case of a rain out we will move play indoors to the Oxford Activity Center.

Bridge will be played in the LLO Room

Dates and Times: Tuesdays from 1-4pm

This is a group that meets on Mondays from 1pm to 4pm and on Fridays from 1pm to 5pm in the LLO Room. 

Dancing with a twist is a cardio-dance workout that uses music and choreographed steps to form a fitness party atmosphere. People of all ages, shapes, and sizes are encouraged to attend this class. You do not have to be a great dancer to attend just be ready to “shake what your mama gave you”.

Practice mindful breathing and slow-moving gentle yoga postures for flexibility, strength, balance, and mental focus. Class can be adapted for all levels of experience and ability. 

This is a knitting and crocheting group that meets on Wednesdays from 10am to 12pm in the up stairs area of the Coach Howell Center

Adaptive Chair Yoga

In Adaptive Chair Yoga we structure the class to fit your needs with the use of props that can include a chair, blocks, straps, or bolsters. We will cover all the basic yoga poses with an emphasis on breath and alignment to work on strength and mobility without stress or strain. The class can be done exclusively sitting on a chair, or you can use the chair for support in standing or kneeling poses. You choose the level of adaptation that is right for you.

The Oxford Park Commission sponsors a youth basketball program for kids age 7–15 as of 9/1/2024. Registration for this program will come to a close on May 4. The 2025 Youth Basketball Summer Season Games will be played during the week on Wednesday evenings, early June - late July, while practices begin in May. Fee for the program is $45. There will be additional fees for service fee and credit card fee.

The objective of the class will be to introduce participants to the sport of wrestling and improve in a fun and exciting environment. Improve the individual's agility, strength, and self-confidence. Wrestling is a great way for your child to build character and learn self-defense. This program strives to build champions on and off the mat.

We will be focusing on folk-style wrestling.
