First, thank you for volunteering to support your child's team as a Team Parent. Your assistance is greatly appreciated so your coach is able to focus on the coaching. Your main role is to serve as a parent liaison and facilitator of the league activities. Your role is important our League couldn't do it without you!
NEW THIS YEAR: All Team Parents need to fill out a Volunteer Application to have a background check completed. Every team parent, coach and assistant coaches must wear their badge when around our players.
Communication:
It is very important for the coaches and you to have good communication. Some coaches want things done a certain way, others give you free reign. You are their most important asset to the team, and coach. Generally, a coach will have the team parent do most of the communication. You can split the list with another parent to make it easier. Supplying the parents with a team letter that includes important dates, game times, snack schedules, parties, team news, etc. is less time spent on the phone. Communication between the league and your team is also very important and done via e-mail.
Ask for Player Roster from Coach:
Names/phone numbers of players and parents
Email distribution list of all parents
Assigning Volunteers
Create a schedule assigning parents (giving them as much advance notice as possible) the following:
Field Preparation: it is the responsibility of each player’s parents to assist
in the preparation of the field for approximately (2-3) home games. If a
parent is scheduled to work their assignment shift, it is their responsibility to
find a replacement and communicate who their replacement is to their team
parent.
Announcement Booth: it is the responsibility of the each player’s parents to
announce (1) away game. If a parent is scheduled to work their assignment
shift, it is their responsibility to find a replacement and communicate who
their replacement is to their team parent.
Snack Schedule
Some parents prefer to bring a snack just for their child, others want to share that responsibility.
If your teams parents wish to share that responsibility, create a snack schedule.
