Boys Academy Director - Aaron King

Colorado Rush is proud to announce Aaron King as the new Director of the Boys Academy. On top of running the Youth Academy divisions, Aaron will also oversee the development of the Colorado Rush Boys Academy funnel reporting directly to Rush Founder, Tim Schulz.

Aaron grew up in Denver, Colorado where he won the 2002 Colorado State Soccer Championships with Smoky Hill High School, was named All- American, and Colorado Player of the Year. Aaron went on to play NCAA Division 1 soccer for North Carolina University where he scored forty-four goals and added fifteen assists. He led NC State in most goals scored 2002-2005. Aaron then achieved All American status in 2005 for one of the biggest soccer powerhouses in the country.

Aaron began his professional career with the Colorado Rapids in 2006 after being traded from the Los Angeles Galaxy who drafted King in the MLS Superdraft. Aaron scored over 65 goals at the professional level. He enjoyed playing professional soccer; both domestically and internationally. It is this professional pedigree that Aaron is looking to use as a foundation to teach the most serious of Colorado boys youth players.

“I’ve been exposed to the immense resources of Rush, even at the International level. I believe today that we have the pedigree to be the strongest youth soccer club not only in Colorado, but really worldwide. Rush is a global brand,” says King.

“Aaron is a fantastic student of the game who has been part of the Rush family from his time growing up in Northeast Denver,” said Tim Schulz, Rush Founder. “Through his career Aaron has had the professional experience on the domestic and international level that we want to expose our boys to,” says Schulz. Schulz went on to say, "I want Aaron to have more of a leadership role in teaching our Rush boys how to perform like professionals, on and off the pitch.”

The announcement of Aaron King as the Director of the Boys Academy follows the recent announcement of Mike Haas as the club’s Technical Director. Haas holds his USSF “A” License and has had various national coaching capacities, including helping to lead the US Paralympic Soccer Team in 2003. “In my short time here I have seen the need to elevate the professionalism of the program and Aaron will be a driving force in that,” said Coach Haas. “In addition I am confident that his local knowledge and pedigree will help drive additional recruitment as we continue to raise the level of Rush boys programs.”
