North Manatee Soccer Club

Mutiny Competitive Program

Overview

     The
Mutiny Academy is the competitive component of North Manatee Soccer Club. The Mutiny Academy offers competitive teams for players ranging from the ages under 8 - under 15. These teams can compete at the highest levels in the state and the region. The Mutiny competitive program strives to provide the best possible atmosphere for player development and a strong competitive spirit.

Most all of our Mutiny Competitive teams have been home grown and cultivated from our local, in house, AYSO recreational program. Once a player in our program has shown a desire and the ability to excel in the sport our coaching staff will identify them for additional development via scouting during AYSO games and Mutiny Academy ID camp tryouts. Our program strives to develop a complete soccer player, one who is able to play at the highest level.

We believe being a small club gives us the unique ability to focus on the players of our Mutiny family and stay away from the pay to play model of larger clubs in our area. Our Leadership/Executive Board of Directors are all volunteers who have worked diligently over the years to build a local family oriented club where players have a name and are NOT just a number...

  • About 95% of all games are played in the Sarasota/Manatee/Pinellas/Hillsborough County
  • We aim for every team at a MINIMUM to play 35 games during the 9 month season
  • Through our partnership with International Soccer Alliance and Suncoast Soccer we are able to offer all of our player’s access to additional training that includes footskill development and specialized camps.

Competitive Philosophy

The philosophy at the Mutiny Academy is that the individual player is the key in the success of the club. Each youth player must be placed in a fun, energetic, competitive learning environment. If a player enjoys each training session he or she will want to work hard to become a better player and look forward to the next training session.

At the developmental groups, the focus is to establish a good foundation of basic technical skills. The wins and losses should not be a factor in a player’s development. The ultimate goal is skill acquisition not a single win or loss. Winning is considered a by-product of superior training.

At the intermediate groups, the focus is on teaching small and large group tactics, as well as continued technical skill training. More focus is placed on winning, with the expectation that older teams in this group will achieve greater success within the State and Region.

At the advanced groups, the focus is on developing and understanding “Systems of Play” within each team, utilizing the technical and tactical skills developed in the prior groups. This group will play a very competitive schedule and look to promote players within the State and Regional programs.
