Flag Football
New to the Holy Family athletic program this year we would like to offer participation in a neighboring flag football league that is based in Liberty Township.  With our numbers being so low for tackle football we would like to offer families a fun option.  Our goal is to form teams that will be entirely comprised of kids from St. John 23 and Holy Family Parish.  Since we have ample field space we will be able to host practices at St. John 23 and then games will be played on Saturday’s in the fall (see program information below).

Few things that are needed in order to make this work;

1.      Head & Asst Coaches – you do not have to have any prior playing or coaching experience in order to coach youth flag football.

a.      Practices – typically 1-2x per week.  Coaches have the option of choosing when to practice

2.      Registration – please register via by clicking HERE!

a.      No money is needed – please register if you are interested in playing in the fall.

b.      Once we have identified enough players to form our own J23 teams, additional instructions will be provided to register via the Lakota flag football program.

c.      No football experience is needed.  Flag football is a great sport that anyone can play!!

Winter Sports

Boys and Girls Basketball
Grades 3-8 compete in the Greater Cincinnati Catholic Youth Sports league (GCCYS).

There are a number of advantages to our participation in the program as outlined below and you can review league information at
-Basketball League Start / End Times – the league starts later than our previous league which will allow for an easier transition from fall to winter sports.  Winter sports practices will begin October 31 and the games will run from Dec 01 until Feb 14.   League tournament will take place Feb 15-18 (grades 3-5), and Feb 22-25 (grades 6-8)

-Saturday and Sunday games– no weekday games with the exception of Friday evenings from time to time

-Divisional Placements and Size of Organization – GCCYS offers a wider range of flexibility in choosing a division of play.  Grades 3-5 are evenly balanced programs (no A-B-C teams), and Grades 6-8 have up to 5 divisions to choose from for competition.  This will also allow us to play many different teams and not the same teams 2-3 times.

-Christmas Break – Dec 18 – Jan 03 - No games will be played during this time period for the Christmas holiday

-Boys 7th and 8th Grade – the 7th and 8th grade boys utilize the 29.5 men’s regulation basketballs which will ease in the transition to high school play

-Referees – all referees are OHSAA certified for basketball

Practices begin in November and games start first week in December.  Commonly a 10 game season with an end of year single elimination tournament. Cost for basketball is $100. Contact Ryan Mulligan with any questions at [email protected]

Cheerleading is offered for the 3rd through 8th grades for basketball and cheer at all basketball games based on grade.
