Edgewood Girls Softball League

KATIE LAVEY SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Katie Lavey was a 16 years old softball player in our senior division who underwent routine surgery and passed away unexpectedly in 2005. She was very active in her school, church & community. She started her playing career in our tee-ball division; played on the Alleycats in the junior division; the Dolls in the middle division; and the Elks in the senior division. She was also a junior tee-ball coach, where she would go to all of the tee-ball practices and games and would work with the tee-ballers. All of the girls loved her. She had a heart of gold and could always make you laugh. In 2006, we started a scholarship fund for our graduating senior players in her memory. Every year the graduating senior players submit applications and a couple of them are chosen to receive small scholarships to help these players with their upcoming expenses of college.
