FAQ

1. What is JBO?
Junior Baseball Organization was founded in Oregon over 70 years ago. It is designed so that kids play on teams representing the High Schools that they will attend.

2. What age groups are offered?
JBO offers divisions beginning in 3rd grade ("Minors") up through 8th grade ("Seniors"). Southridge only offers Senior-level teams so as not to compete with our local Little Leagues for players. We encourage kids to get their start in baseball by playing Little League, then moving on to JBO once they are older than 12.

3. Who is eligible to play for Southridge JBO?
Players in 6th-8th grade (older than 12) who will or intend to play baseball at Southridge High School. If you are not currently in the Southridge attendance area but plan to attend as an in-district transfer, there are waiver requirements that must be met to include you in our program.

4. Is Southridge JBO a new program?
There was a healthy JBO program at Southridge for several years but it disbanded in 2020 due to a number of factors; primarily because of the halting of sports during the COVID pandemic. We fielded one Senior level team for the 2023 spring season and will continue growing to offer opportunities for all future Skyhawk baseball players.

5. Why is JBO a better option than other programs or clubs?
We give kids the opportunity to play with their future High School teammates while getting to know - and be known to - the Southridge coaches. If they want to play for Southridge in High School, they will have an advantage by becoming familiar with the facilities, coaches, teammates and what is expected of them as Skyhawk baseball players.
