2026 A Baseball
(League Age 6's and 7's who have not previously played A level baseball)
A Baseball provides the player with their first experience on the little league field. 2026 AA Baseball
(League Ages 7, 8 and some 9's*)
AA Baseball focuses on the continued development of the player's fundamental skills. Skill development at this level is on hitting the pitched ball and completing plays in the field with introduction of field and base coverage. This level also incorporates the player as a pitcher, with coach pitching after 4 balls. Teams will meet two to three times per week for practice and games. Clinic style practice sessions will start in late March, early April.
League Age 7's must have played one year of A Baseball.
League Age 8's are encouraged to Register for AAA if one year of AA has already been played.
*League Age 9's must register for the AAA division. 9's will be placed in AA if there is a safety risk to the player by playing in the AAA division.
All League Age 8's & 9's that register for AAA must attend evaluations. Evaluations are used to determine placement in the AAA or AA divisions and to ensure that the 8's & 9's placed in the AA division are evenly distributed amongst the teams to promote competitive balance.

2026 AAA Baseball
(League Ages 8* & 9-11)
AAA baseball is designed to give players the ability to play in a more competitive atmosphere while playing at an appropriate skill level. The focus of AAA baseball is on continuing the development of the fundamentals of the game while introducing game strategy and competition. Scoring and standings will be maintained throughout the year. Teams will play an approximately 12 game schedule. Practices start in March.
All players Age 8 and up will be expected to attend an evaluation session.

What Division is Right for My Child?

WHICH DIVISION IS RIGHT FOR MY CHILD?

Children from 4 to 14 years old can be Little Leaguers®. With several age-specific divisions, there are fun, competitive baseball and softball opportunities for both boys and girls who join East Lyme Little League.

But, before players can put on their Little League uniform, they need to determine their league age. To learn a player’s league age, Little League uses an Age Determination Date, with both Little League Baseball® and Little League Softball® having distinct, different dates.

To find a child’s League Age for the upcoming season, use the League-Age Calculator.

Little League’s Baseball and Softball divisions do have slight differences regarding the age classification of players. Based on the number of players registering to play in a given season, each local league has the option to adjust the age groupings of the players in their league, in accordance with Little League rules and regulations. This allows all participants, from Tee Ball and Coach Pitch to Juniors, to have a fun, meaningful experience.

We strongly recommend that you register your child for the appropriate division based on the player's current skill level.

Please see below for further descriptions of our different divisions.
