Founders FC 2024-25 Season (Player ID / Tryouts)

Founders FC, Southern Maryland's competitive youth soccer club offering travel/tournament-style play will host player ID / tryouts to fill team(s) for the 2024-2025 season. All interested players (including returning players) MUST register.

**PLEASE NOTE** Since we are a newer Soccer Club in the SOMD area, we may not be able to fill teams at all age levels depending on turnout/need and available coaching staff. However, we intend to hold full tryouts with the intent to fill teams as appropriate and able across all planned age range and gender groups. Our tryouts will consist of 2 general tryout sessions and 2 focused team sessions prior to any offer for a roster spot. We are looking for additional coaches that may be interested in developing, mentoring, and leading our young talented athletes at Founders FC. MISSION
Our mission is to develop young athletes into skilled and confident soccer players while instilling values of sportsmanship, teamwork, and leadership. We aim to create a positive and competitive environment where our young athletes can thrive. Through quality coaching, dedication, mentorship, and a commitment to player development, we strive to inspire a lifelong passion for soccer and foster the next generation of young athletes.
 
PROGRAM
Our youth soccer program offers travel/tournament-style play where we focus on building a cohesive and competitive team through practices, supplemental training, and scrimmage/game opportunities throughout the season all to achieve competitive tournament play. Here are some basic highlights of our program:
  • Our coaches enter their teams into tournaments throughout the season. Player tournament fees are collected when entry is secured.
  • Our full year program runs through fall (outdoor), winter (outdoor/Futsal), and spring (outdoor). Scheduled breaks are strategically placed around holidays, summer, and other major events.
  • Practices will be dictated by the Head Coach of each team and will be 2-3 times per week. Practice locations will be in the St. Mary’s County region and/or the Solomons area of Calvert County.
  • Coaches may require players to attend skills training, speed, agility, and/or conditioning sessions based on player and/or team needs.
  • Players are expected to dedicate their time and effort in support of their team for the entire full-year (fall, winter, and spring) season.
  • Continuity and retention of players for each team is a priority. Our players learn and grow as a team throughout their development and progression at Founders FC. However, some teams may require all players to tryout yearly.
  • All coaches and staff are background checked by St. Mary's Rec and Parks and Maryland State Youth Soccer Association (MSYSA).
  • All parents are required to sign all waivers and release of liability for their athletes prior to any participation in Club activities.
 
COST
Our fee structure is simplistic in nature. At Founders FC, we leverage our non-profit organization, Founders Athletics, to lower athletics fees wherever possible. The overhead to run a youth soccer club is not insignificant. However, our organization doesn’t pad our fee structure and we take pride in being completely transparent. Our non-profit directors, admins, and coaches are all volunteer members of our local community and are not compensated. Player fees are broken down into the following:
Club Fees [Billed Seasonally @ Registration]: Includes insurance, marketing & materials, resource & affiliate registration, government, website, and non-profit related fees.
Player Fees [Billed Seasonally @ Registration]: Includes USYS travel player registration, equipment, practice field reservation, and other related fees.
Jersey Fees [Billed Seasonally @ Registration]: Includes fees associated with the player's jersey kit.
Tournament Fees [Billed Per Tournament Registration Per Team]: Our coaches strive to enter our teams into 3-5 tournaments a year. Team entry costs for tournaments can vary depending on the tournament, location, and other factors. Per Tournament costs per player are around $35-$90, depending on the Tournament and size of the team. The per player cost for each tournament is calculated based on the tournament entry fee and the total number of available players on the team minus any sponsor/partner donations that can be leveraged by the Club. Travel costs associated with each tournament are not covered by Founders FC and are the responsibility of the athlete’s parents to make necessary arrangements.
 
If your player is selected and offered a slot on one of our teams, you will receive an offer letter that provides additional details on fees. Since our mission, first and foremost, is to promote youth athletics development within our community, we have established and made resources available to those players and their families who may need monetary support to participate. These scholarships are provided on a need basis and require substantiation before award. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if this situation applies to your athlete and family.
