FRGSL Spring Recreational Softball 2025

Welcome to the Fall River Girls Softball League (FRGSL) 2025 Spring Recreational Season!

The FRGSL is dedicated to providing a positive and enjoyable experience for all girls aged 5 to 14 who wish to participate in softball. Our mission is to promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and the development of fundamental skills while encouraging a love for the game. We are committed to fostering a community that supports and empowers young female athletes to reach their full potential, both on and off the field.

Season Overview:

- The 2025 Spring Recreational season will begin in April and conclude in June.

- Regular season games will be held on weekdays and weekends, with the possibility of some weekday evening games for the older divisions.

- All games and practices will be played at our well-maintained fields located throughout Fall River.

- The season will include a minimum of 10 regular season games, with the potential for additional games based on weather and field availability.

-There will be home games played in Fall River and away games played in surrounding towns.

Divisions:

- T-Ball : Players learn the basic fundamentals of softball with an emphasis on fun, skill development, and teamwork. Games are non-competitive and are designed to introduce children to the sport.

- Coach Pitch: Players continue to develop fundamental skills with coaches pitching to them. The focus remains on skill development, with an introduction to basic game rules and strategies.

- Minors: Players begin pitching to one another with a 35-foot pitching distance. The emphasis is on skill advancement, understanding game strategies, and teamwork.

- Majors: Players experience competitive play with a 40-foot pitching distance and full game rules. The focus is on honing skills and preparing for more advanced levels of play.

- Seniors : Players compete at the highest level within the recreational league, with a 43-foot pitching distance. The goal is to develop advanced skills and strategies while maintaining a positive and supportive environment.

Registration:

- Registration for the 2025 Spring Recreational Season will open in January 2025.

- REGISTRATION IS FREE FOR ALL PLAYERS REGARDLESS OF WHERE THEY LIVE!

- Players must provide their own softball glove, cleats, pants, fielding mask, batting helmet, and socks. Bats must adhere to league regulations. (ASA/USA Stamped and following the standard set forth in their rulebook.)

Evaluations:

- Players in the Coach Pitch, Minors, and Majors divisions will be required to attend an evaluation session in March 2025 to ensure proper team placement.

- Evaluations are not mandatory for T-Ball players, as teams are formed based on age.

Volunteer Opportunities:

- The success of our league depends on the involvement of parents and community members.

- We are always looking for coaches, assistant coaches, umpires, and team parents to help make the season run smoothly.

- Background checks are required for all adults working closely with the players.

Important Dates:

- Registration Opens: January 2025

- Registration Closes: March 14, 2025

- Evaluations: March 15, 2025 (Coach Pitch, Minors, and Majors)

- Practices Begin: Late March/Early April 2025 (specific dates TBD)

- Opening Day: April 5, 2025

- Regular Season: April-May/June 2025
