2024 Football Registration is NOW open!

If you have previously participated with a different youth football program, and are NOT zoned for River Bluff High School, the Lexington Recreation and Aging Commission requires that you contact that league and request a release from that organization before registering for River Bluff Youth Sports football.

The cutoff birth date is September 1st for each division. Your child MUST play in the division based on the age they will be on September 1, 2024. The division ages are as follows:

Flag - Age 6-8

10U Tackle - Ages 9-10

12U Tackle - Ages 11-12

RBYS will provide the following for each player:

Flag- Game jersey/shorts and flags for practice/games

10U Tackle- Game jersey, helmet and shoulder pads

12U Tackle- Game jersey, helmet and shoulder pads

Parents will provide the following for each player:

Flag- Mouthpiece and cleats (style and color are player choice)

10U Tackle- Practice/game pants (color announced by player's coach), mouthpiece and cleats (style and color are player choice)

12U Tackle- Practice/game pants (color announced by player's coach), mouthpiece and cleats (style and color are player choice)

RBYS Football is only made possible by volunteers! If your are interested in volunteering as a coach please indicate this on the registration form. Please indicate if your would like to be a Head or Assistant Coach and be sure to include your name and contact information. RBYS would like have six coaches per tackle team and four coaches per flag team to ensure that each kids get the proper amount of instruction to be successful. Don't have much coaching experience? We will make sure you have what you need to be prepared to coach your team and be successful yourself. We are a Gator Family here and we aren't successful if you aren't successful.

Practices: All practices are typically held Monday-Thursday with the exception on NON Mandatory practices on Sundays if there is a game on Monday

Flag- Practices are held once a week for about an hour. They are typically held on one of the fields on River Bluff Campus. Those days, times and location are decided on by the coach of your team. Coaches may schedule two practices a week before games start just to ensure that the players are prepared and ready to take the field to compete and have FUN!

10U/12U Tackle-  Practices are typically held on River Bluff Campus due to the lighting situation, but can change per coach preference. Practices are typically 1-1.5 hours, two to three times a week until games start. Once the season starts, practices are typically held twice a week plus the game.

Games: All games are scheduled by Lex Rec and are typically held Monday-Thursday unless there is a makeup game for some reason

 Flag/10U/12U- We typically have a 7-8 game regular season and then Playoff/Championships that should be played sometime around the end of October to the first of November. Game days, times and locations are decided solely by Lex Rec. Teams typically have equal number of home games vs. away games. We will be playing other teams throughout the county (ie.Lexington, Gilbert, White Knoll, etc.). Lex Rec typically releases the game schedules at the Sports-A-Rama that's held sometime in mid-August. We will announce the date of the Sports-A-Rama and location as soon as Lex Rec releases it.
