Soccer Team Parent Tips
The primary purpose of the Team Parent is to facilitate clear communication.
Highly Recommended:
- As soon as you get your team’s roster, create a group text.  Everyone should save their player’s parents in their contacts.
- On the day before each game, send a text reminding the whole team of their game time (it’s not always the same time).  Also, remind parents of the snack schedule (if you chose to do snacks).
- Near the end of the season, ask everyone to chip in on appreciation gifts for your coaches.  Present the gifts at the last game or during the closing ceremony.
- ASK OTHER PARENTS FOR HELP. We all need to chip in. For example, if we need you to pick up your teams’ shirts or picture orders, and you’re not able, text your group and see who will do it.
Optional Ideas:
- During the first few practices, have parents sign up for game day snacks. Everyone should take a turn.  The kids look forward to having a healthy snack and drink after they’ve played hard.
- Answer questions your team may have, or contact [email protected] or send us a FB message, and get the answer.
- Remind your team of small details: - Bring a water bottle and ball to every practice. U6 and U9 will use a size 3 ball
- Bring a water bottle to every game. You may also need sunscreen & bug spray.
- Purchase on your own: cleats and shinguards
- A parent should stay at practices. Some coaches like to involve parents and appreciate the help.  Other parents sit in their lawn chairs and watch or read a book. It’s not a drop-off program.
- Games take place at Harris Park

The Team Parent will NOT:
- Provide snacks and drinks at every game and practice.
- Decide on the practice time and place, although the coach may ask for input from the team.
- Communicate game changes due to rain. In the event of a rain-out, the board president will contact all coaches and coaches will inform their team.  The coaches will also inform the team of the make-up date.
- Try to go above and beyond and make this a stressful season.  Make this fun and do as much or as little as you want. Ask the other parents on your team for help.  We are a community. Soccer is family.
