Welcome

WELCOME COACHES!

We are honored to have you as in integral part of our Flag Football Program. Our #1 focus is for our children to have a positive and fun experience.  If they learn a little about the game of football and have some healthy competition, we look at that as a bonus.

We want to ensure that EVERY child has ample opportunity to participate, get touches on the football, and feel included on a team.  We are building the foundation for an appreciation and value of participating in a team sport.

1. Have FUN!
2. Be Active
3. Practice Good Sportsmanship
4. Teamwork
5. Community

At the first practice/game day, you will receive player jerseys, player flags, a football, whistle and cones.

Resources

1.  Flag Football Rules - 2024 Rule Book

2.  Flag Football Drills - Includes the basics from "how to throw a football" to the more advanced "running back drills".

3.  5 on 5 Playbook  - A plethora of plays to get you started.  Pro Tip: at the bottom of the page is a link to download the playbook.  Print "2 pages per sheet", cut pages in half and you have a ready-to-laminate game playbook.

Where to start?

Where to start?

Consider beginning your 1st practice by throwing and catching the ball.  Identify who could be a possible quarterback - who has an accurate throw?  Next, introduce the "yard" measurement.  Most kids will not know how long a yard is - you'll need to teach them this before you ask them to run a 5-yard slant route.  And finally, you'll want to teach the routes you plan to use.  Now your offence is ready.  For defense practice, start with a flag pulling drill.
