Baltimore City Gators Inc Girls Lacrosse Club

History: Baltimore City Gators Inc (BC Gators) has been around for years, starting as a girls 9-10 team practicing at Herring Run Park in 2007. The team was reformed in 2012 under George Roycroft with the help of Officer Cameron Battle, who ran the Gator Program. The first 13U team was started at The Stadium School, where Coach George Roycroft worked as a teacher. The Baltimore Gators girls program played their games at the YMCA at Stadium Place on 33rd Street in Baltimore City and was a part of the Maryland Youth Lacrosse Association Midget C Division (13U). The team also competed in the Baltimore City Middle School League where they were undefeated for 3 years. The team accepted any girl that wanted to play from ages 8 to 13 years old. After the Baltimore City Gators girls team disbanded as a recreation level team, they continued as a high school club team, keeping the same name, but changing the colors. The BC Gators Girls Lacrosse High School Club Team started in 2015 with the purpose of providing girls of color, girls from disadvantaged areas, and girls that just want to play the opportunity to play at the next level of lacrosse. We are proud to say that we have obtained our 501(c)3 status January 2020 and have joined FCA 2021. We are proud to have added a Middle School Team to the Gator Family for the 2021-2022 Season.

Mission: We welcome dedicated girls of color, girls from disadvantaged areas, or any girl that currently play girls lacrosse in 6th through 12th grades. It is our goal to prepare girls to learn and play the game of lacrosse in a fun, healthy, competitive, and safe environment. We emphasize the importance of respect for teammates, opponents, coaches, and officials. We teach the true meaning of student-athlete by reinforcing that academics are always first. Additionally, not only do we strive to teach fundamental girls lacrosse skills, but also life skills while building life-long relationships. The girls learn sportsmanship, leadership, teamwork, and positive peer interaction. We want every player’s experience to prepare her to play at the next level. When needed, we assist with the college recruiting process. Our staff members are coaches at the high school or college level and are prepared to teach players of different skill levels and abilities.

Vision: To help grow the game by providing an opportunity for girls of color, girls from disadvantaged areas, and girls that just want to play the opportunity to play lacrosse at the next level.

College Commitments: We strive to get girls to play in college at all levels, D1, D2/NAIA, D3, & JUCO. Any girl who starts as a freshman or sophomore finishes their senior year with the team completing all games and plays at the next level finish playing and gradutes, will have full retirement of their jersey.
