Lake Superior Blizzards Inc. Code of Conduct: Player/Parent/Spectator/Coach 


It is the mission of Lake Superior Blizzards Inc to provide an opportunity for youth players to excel at the game of baseball & softball with an emphasis on personal growth, mental and physical development.  Most importantly, for our players to enjoy their experience that ultimately assists in them growing into becoming responsible, productive, respectful young adults. The Code of Conduct will be revised and updated periodically. 

PLAYER CODE OF CONDUCT 

All players will … 

  • display good sportsmanship and team play at all times. 

  • follow the directions of the coaching staff. 

  • show respect for all opponents, coaches, players, umpires, league officials and spectators. 

  • make every attempt to be on time and ready to play for all games and practices. 

  • inform coaching staff in a timely manner when unable to attend practice or games.

  • Be willing to work hard during practices without complaining or being disruptive

  • Follow all team guidelines and rules

  • Understand that playing time is earned through hard work in practice and executing on the field

PARENT and SPECTATOR CODE OF CONDUCT

All parents and spectators will…

  • Make sure the player is willing to make the commitment necessary before accepting the invitation to join the team

  • Have the player to practices and games on-time.  Communicate with the coach if an issue comes up that will cause a delay

  • conduct themselves in a manner that displays the principles of good sportsmanship and team play. 

  • show respect for all opponents, coaches, players, umpires, league officials and spectators. 

  • comply with the decisions of league officials and observe all rules, policies and procedures as established by the Lake Superior Blizzards BOD. 

  • stay in designated spectator areas at all times (Parents may NOT go in Player and Coach Only areas (i.e.- dugouts, batting cages, behind backstop, etc.) unless invited

  • let the coaches coach, players play, and umpires make the calls!

  • Never approach a coach about playing time during a game or immediately after. Please use the 24hr rule in the grievance procedure.

COACH CODE OF CONDUCT

All coaches will…

  • be positive role models. 

  • display and instill in their players the principles of good sportsmanship and team play. 

  • conduct themselves in a manner that best serves the interests of the players, team and Lake Superior Blizzards Inc.

  • Be prepared for practices and games

  • do their best to provide their players a positive experience.

  • ensure that their teams exhibit good sportsmanship at all times, win or lose. 

  • treat all players, coaches, opponents, umpires, league officials and spectators with respect. 

  • provide instruction in a manner that is constructive and supportive. 

  • teach the game of baseball to the best of their ability. 

  • Be generous with your praise when it is deserved; be consistent and honest; be fair and just do not criticize players publicly

  • Maintain an open line of communication with your players’ parents. Explain the goals and objectives of your this program

  •  Be concerned with the overall development of your players. Stress good health habits and clean living. 

  • Never let the players give up

  • To play the game is great, to love the game is greater Parent / Coach Relationship A positive relationship between parents and coaches is an important part of a successful program.

 

THE CONSEQUENCES OF VIOLATING THE LSB CODE OF CONDUCT

Warnings: Coaches or officials may issue verbal warnings to players, parents, or coaches who violate the code of conduct. These warnings serve as reminders and encourage better behavior.

Suspensions: For more serious violations, players, coaches, or parents may face temporary suspensions from games or practices. The length of the suspension can vary based on the severity of the offense.

Expulsion: In extreme cases, a player or coach may be expelled from the  team. Expulsion typically occurs when there are repeated violations or severe misconduct.

Parental Involvement: Parents who violate the code of conduct may be restricted from attending games or practices. This ensures that disruptive behavior does not negatively impact other players or the overall experience.

All code of conduct violations/ penalties imposed will be reviewed and determined by the LSB BOD
