The BUA is a professional association that provides its membership with umpiring opportunities and identifies the member’s responsibilities for the various baseball/softball leagues that it represents. The BUA will educate its members on the proper methods, knowledge and skills required to perform the duties requested of BUA members from the various leagues that contract with the BUA. The BUA evaluates it’s members to guarantee that the mission statement is adhered to.
The BUA officiates about 2,000 games each year from Little League to Adult Men’s leagues. They accept officials starting at 16 as a Junior Official and then a full member starting at 18. Younger officials will officiate games in the Little League Minors and Majors divisions. The BUA provides training via ZOOM to get new umpires up to speed.
