On January 23rd we hosted our Preseason parents’ meeting and wanted to share all the information that was given at that meeting to all that couldn’t attend.
Information about our Local Leagues
This year we will be removing pitching machines from all leagues. The goal is to get batters used to a pitcher throwing to them and develop pitchers and catchers earlier during their time in youth baseball.
What this means:
- Pee Wee (7&8 year old) – This will now be a coach pitch league with the batter using a Tee to hit off if they cannot hit off the coach.
- Pee Wee rules will receive a rewrite to reflect the move to coach pitch and other rules may also be rewritten to closer mirror the next league they will sign up for.
- Intermediate (9&10 year old) – Players will pitch through the entire game.
- Intermediate rules may also receive a rewrite to keep the pace of play high.
- Minor (11&12 year olds) – No changes currently planned to the format of this league.
New Sign-Up Process
Starting this season Little League International has made it mandatory for all leagues to use the Sports Connect sign up software. With this new software, there is also a new website that will host all Little League Registrations.
New tools with this software:
- Uploading of birth certificates
- Links for volunteers to complete background checks
- League News
- Field Status
- App integration
- Team messaging service
- Schedules
- Standings/Game Results

Post Season Play
It is the goal of Sheridan Little League to send a team from intermediate league and minor league to our district tournament, state tournament, and hopefully beyond.
Teams will be made up of players representing each of our teams in each league. Three coaches will also be chosen from within the league for each team.
During your registration you will be asked if your player is interested in being considered for post season play.
Post Season Dates
- District Tournament:
- Torrington, Wy
- July 17th – July 20th
- State Tournament:
- Lovell, Wy
- July 23rd – July 26th
Fundraising for Post Season
We want to minimize the cost of participation in post season play by fundraising efforts to cover some of the travel cost of these tournaments (hotels, meal, etc.).
Some of the steps for this effort would be:
- Establishing a fundraising goal
- Right now, SRD has estimated this goal at $30,000
- Create a fundraising committee
- To help create a fundraising plan we would like to create a 5 person committee made of 4 parents from the league and an SRD staff member.
- This group will meet to create a plan for events to raise money

- Fundraising opportunities:
- Using 10-12% of the baseball budget
- This number represents the players on the two teams
- Raffles – Bats, fan ware, etc. at local games
- Third Thursday booth

- Merchandise/fan ware sales
- Grant Money
- SRD has applied for a $30,000 Grant from the Daniels Fund
- Bingo nights/dinning for a cause
