GUEST PLAYER POLICY
The Rockets Fastpitch Softball organization has implemented the following as an official guest player policy as of the 2024 Spring season.
All Rockets rosters must have between 10 and 14 players to be considered a team. With a full commitment from players and families, there should not be a need for guest players. However, as illness and other priority commitments arise, the following policy shall be enforced:
In the case of a Rockets team needing a Guest Player:
● There must be less than 9 players present on the team in need and the alternative is a forfeiture
● The coaching staff must first attempt to secure a guest player from another Rockets team before seeking outside of the organization
● Coaches should ensure with the parent of the guest player that that player’s own team does not have any type of commitment - be it practice OR a game - that they would be missing in order to guest play for the Rockets
● Coaches must go through the proper channels with USA Softball, USSSA, or FPN to Roster the guest player according to their specific processes
● Rostered Rockets players will not be “benched” in order for the Guest Player to get playing time. This fact needs to be discussed with the Guest Player and their parents ahead of time. Our commitment as an organization is to our players and their development which includes playing them in positions they may not typically play in the absence of a teammate.
In the case of a Rockets player being asked to Guest for another team:
● Rockets players need to speak directly to their coaches to get permission to guest play ● Rockets players have committed to our organization, their coaches, and their teammates. A Rockets player is only permitted to play for another team if they have no prior Rockets commitments; this includes practices, scrimmages, games, and tournaments
● As schedules are fluid, should a Rockets player commit to guesting for another team on an open weekend and a Rockets commitment arises, they are expected to decline their guest opportunity and be at their Rockets event.
