Our Mission:
Jaws Little League is a volunteer non-profit organization whose mission is to provide a fun, safe and clean haven environment by giving the proper guidance and excellent leadership from the managers, coaches and all volunteer staff to teach our young athletes how to develop physical well-being, discipline, teamwork, sportsmanship through our little league baseball program. We will provide the volunteer staff a curriculum where our young athletes can perform and compete the skills learned as they play the game of baseball.
HISTORY:
Jaws Little League Inc. has been in existence since 1978 and caters to children between the ages of 4 to 18 years of age. All of these children benefit in various ways through the extensive experience of dedicated volunteers who love baseball. Although these divisions are quite competitive, one of the main focuses is to teach the fundamentals of baseball.
Many of these youngsters are primarily of Hispanic and African American descent who come from low-income families, who have difficulties submitting the required fees in order to participate. Each youngster is required to submit a league fee that is a financial burden for the majority of their families, but due to the dedication of many of these parents the fee is submitted. These acts of selflessness by the players' parents help to motivate the teams and volunteer coaching the staff.
Our teams consist of very talented youngsters that simply want to play baseball. Throughout the years we have seen many of our players obtain additional benefits from their athletic abilities, as they earned scholarships to attend private schools, are exposed to college scouts as well as Major League scouts during the regular season.
Each division plays games during the season which runs from April thru June. In addition, several of the players have additional opportunities to participate in outside tournaments that allow them to travel and play in other areas.
