2025 Rand Wonio Memorial Scholarship Application

The Rand Wonio Memorial Scholarship, sponsored by the Davenport Baseball Academy(formerly Babe Ruth Baseball League), is awarding a $1000.00 scholarship for the 2024/2025 academic year. This scholarship is open to all former Davenport East Pony League/Davenport Babe Ruth League players who are graduating High School in the year 2025, and who intend to enroll in a university, college or community college. Scholarships awarded on a one-time basis. Criteria for selection are based on the basis of academics (3.0 or above), sound character, extracurricular activities, essay, and community service. Also, please provide at least one letter of recommendation.

Applications must be postmarked by May 15, 2022. Scholarship recipient will be notified as soon as possible after selection.

Rand Wonio was a Davenport East Pony League manager from 2000-2010, and served as President of the Pony League from 2004-2014. Rand was also a Little League and Pony umpire for over 15 years. For almost 30 years, Rand had made a considerable impact at the D-East baseball fields located in Garfield Park. From managing baseball teams to serving on league boards, his love of the game, sportsmanship and leadership have benefited the lives of children in Davenport. Rand mentored many youth on and off the baseball field, and wanted all youth to have an opportunity to play ball. Rand worked as a partner at the law firm of Lane and Waterman in Davenport since 1977, until his death in 2015. Rand and his wife Jeanne have raised 8 children.
