Youth Basketball League

Program Description

The Mississippi Gulf Coast YMCA Youth Basketball League is designed to provide children with a fun, supportive, and inclusive environment where they can learn and develop basketball skills while fostering teamwork, sportsmanship, and a love of the game. Our league is open to players of all skill levels, from beginners to more experienced athletes, and aims to promote physical fitness, confidence, and positive social interaction.

Program Goals:

Skill Development: Players will work on fundamental basketball skills, including dribbling, shooting, passing, defense, and teamwork, through engaging practices and game scenarios.
Sportsmanship & Teamwork: We emphasize the importance of respect, communication, and collaboration, both on and off the court.
Fun & Fitness: Above all, our league is about having fun and staying active! Players will enjoy the excitement of competitive games while learning valuable lessons about discipline and hard work.

League Structure:

Age Divisions: The league is divided into age-specific groups to ensure a fair and balanced experience for all players. Age groups may include: [e.g., 6-8, 9-11, 12-14].
Teams: Players will be placed on teams based on age and skill level, ensuring balanced competition throughout the season.
Coaching: Our coaches are committed to teaching players the fundamentals of basketball while fostering a positive, encouraging environment.

Games & Practices: Teams will have weekly practices and games, with game schedules available at the start of the season. Practices will focus on skill development and teamwork, while games will provide a platform for players to apply what they’ve learned.
Location: TBD (Most likely OSUE)

Registration Deadline:
Fee: $75 for YMCA Members, $95 for Non-members
Equipment: Players should bring appropriate athletic wear, basketball shoes, and a water bottle. Jerseys will be provided.

Fall Soccer 2025

Youth Soccer Program

Youth soccer is a fun, fast-paced team sport designed to help children of all skill levels develop athletic abilities, teamwork, and confidence. Our program focuses on skill-building, sportsmanship, and creating a positive environment where kids can thrive both on and off the field. Our program serves children 3-15 years old. All skill levels are welcome. Scholarships are available.
