We are excited to announce that the Wilmington Youth Football & Cheerleading Board of Directors has decided to transition from Pop Warner and compete next season in the New England Commonwealth Conference (NCYFC) which is part of the American Youth Football League (AYF).
This decision was made primarily because it will allow our Wilmington Football players & Cheerleaders to compete against similar sized towns that they will eventually face in High School. This league includes
towns like Reading, Stoneham, Melrose, Watertown and Wakefield.
Another factor in this decision is the quality of the stadiums where our football team will play next season which include Austin Prep, Merrimack College, and Bentley College.
The level of competition and outstanding opportunities for our cheerleaders was also a major consideration as the NCYFC will allow for a better overall experience.
These are just a few of the factors amongst many that made this the right move for Wilmington. The goal of our program is to provide all of our children with the best youth cheerleading and football experience possible while preparing them for the High School level. We are building a new sense of community within our program and this was clearly the right time to make this move.
