If your Player currently attends school within the TELL boundaries, they are eligible. Example schools that are eligible include Benson, Beswick, Currie, Heritage, Ladera, Legacy Magnet Academy, Marjorie Veeh, Myford, Nelson, Peters Canyon, Pioneer, Red Hill, Red Hill Lutheran, St. Cecilia Catholic, Sycamore Magnet Academy, Thorman, Tustin Memorial Academy, Tustin Ranch, and Utt. This list may not be inclusive and was last updated in 2023. If your player's school is not listed, check the official TELL boundaries map below to see if your player's school is in our boundary, or contact the Player Agent.

Little League International Eligibility Requirments

WHICH DIVISION WILL MY CHILD BE PLACED IN?

Tustin Eastern has many divisions for children to play baseball. The Pee Wee divisions (T­-ball and Coach Pitch) are non­competitivedivisions, meaning no game scores are kept and no standings are recorded. The Little League (A, AA, AAA, and Major) and Junior divisions are competitive with game scores and standings kept. Here is a summary of how children are placed in each division:

Juniors (competitive) – Kid pitch with more advanced baseball rules for 13 and 14 year old’s, using a conventional 90-foot diamond with a pitching distance of 60 feet, 6 inches. 

Majors (competitive) – The top of the Little League divisions, kid pitch consisting primarily of 11 and 12 year old’s. Majors Baseball is "player-pitch" baseball and is played on a field with 60 foot base paths and a pitcher’s mound that is 46 feet from home plate. Players must be evaluated prior to the draft and all games are scored.  Rosters are usually composed of 12 players. 

AAA (competitive) – Kid pitch division consisting of primarily 10 year old’s but also containing 9 and 11 year old’s. AAA Baseball is "player-pitch" baseball and is played on a field with 60 foot base paths and a pitcher’s mound that is 46 feet from home plate. Players must be evaluated prior to the draft and all games are scored. Rosters are usually composed of 12 players. 

AA (competitive) – Kid pitch division primarily for 9 year old’s, with some players who are 8 or 10. AA Baseball is "player-pitch" baseball and is played on a field with 60 foot base paths and a pitcher’s mound that is 46 feet from home plate.  Rosters are usually composed of 12 players. 

Single A (competitive) – Machine pitch division primarily for 8 year old’s, with some players who are 7 or 9. Single A Baseball is "machine-pitch" baseball and is played on a field with 60 foot base paths and a pitcher’s mound that is 46 feet from home plate.  All players must be evaluated to the draft and all games are scored. Rosters are usually composed of 12 players. This is a competitive division. Games are scored and standings are kept.

Coach Pitch (non-­competitive) – Primarily for 6 year old’s with Tee Ball experience or for 7 year old’s without Tee Ball experience. Rosters are usually composed of 12 players. This is a non-competitive division. Games are not scored and standings are not kept.

Tball (non-competitive) –­ Primarily for 4 and 5 year old’s or 6 year old’s without Tee Ball experience. Pee Wee Minor baseball is Tee-Ball baseball.  Rosters are usually composed of 12 players. This is a non-competitive division as games are not scored and standings are not kept.

Challenger Division - The Little League Challenger Division® was founded in 1989 and is Little League’s adaptive baseball program for individuals with physical and intellectual challenges.

Any individual with a physical or intellectual challenge may participate. If an individual can participate in the traditional Little League Baseball or Softball program with reasonable accommodations, they should do so. The Little League Challenger Division accommodates players ages 4 to 18; or up to age 22 if still enrolled in school. 

ARE THERE ANY VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS?

TELL is a non-profit organization that relies on our dedicated volunteers to keep our league going strong.  It takes a diverse group of individuals with various set of skills to help maximize the impact we have on our kids. As we do each year during registration, we will be asking you to inform the league of where you can commit your time. 

TELL requires a total of 6 volunteer credits per player OR 9 credits total per family, with two or more players in the league. 

Credits are based on the approximate time commitment for each of the associated responsibilities. Current volunteer positions available at tell that will help you fulfill your volunteer obligations:

Board Member – 6 credits

Team Manager – 6 credits

Team Main Coach – 6 credits

Team Parent – 6 credits

Umpire – 3 credits per game (Single A thru Majors)

Scorekeeper – 1 credit per game (Single A thru Majors)

Snack Shack – (2) 3 hour shifts or 1 credit per hour worked

Landscape Maintenance – 1 credit per hour worked

Special Events (Opening day, closing ceremonies, grandparents’ day, etc.) – 1 credit per hour worked

ARE TEAMS RESPONSIBILE FOR PROVIDING UMPIRES?

Yes. Every team in each division is responsible for providing one adult umpire for the season. They will be placed in a pool along with our youth umpires and the Umpire Scheduler will assign umpires for each game. 

IS THERE A REQUIRED SPONSORSHIP PER TEAM?

Yes. there is a required sponsorship per team of $200. Your team is required to find a business, an individual, or each players' family can chip in to fulfill this requirement.


WHEN IS THE SEASON PLAYED?

The League offers recreational play during two seasons each year (spring and fall) in addition to fielding All-Star teams to compete in the summer Little League tournaments. 

The spring season registration opens October 1st of the previous year, practices begin in late January/Early February, and the regular season concludes late May/beginning of June.  The regular season schedule will be released when teams have been officially formed. All-Star play runs through the month of June with opportunities to advance to the state tournament and beyond in July and August. 

The fall season registration opens July 1st of each year, practices begin in August, and the season concludes in November. 


HOW ARE TEAMS FORMED?

The Pee Wee Divisions are formed through player request and where the player attends school.  The Little League divisions are formed by the annual draft.


NOW THAT I HAVE REGISTERED, WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

T-Ball, Coach Pitch and Rookie players: You can expect a call from the manager of your child’s team in late January/early February after the upper division drafts are completed. Most teams will have a parents’ meeting and possibly one or two practices before Opening Day.

Single A through Juniors players: All players league age 8 and above are required to attend tryouts for the regular season.  Tryout dates and instructions will be posted on the TELL website.  Following the completion of tryouts in early January, the player draft will occur and players will receive their team assignment by mid-January. Practices will start in late January followed by Opening Day towards the end of February.


WHAT HAPPENS AFTER TRYOUTS?

Tryouts are for players for A, AA, AAA, Majors and the Juniors Divisions. Tryouts are an opportunity for the team managers to see the players in action. The tryouts will occur before the team draft; please check the TELL website calendar for dates, times, and location.  Players will move through stations that will test their ability fielding ground balls and fly balls, throwing, running, batting. This allows the team managers to observe and evaluate players’ fundamental baseball skills. Each evaluation session lasts approximately 30 minutes and is organized by age groups. Players should come prepared as they would for a normal practice with baseball attire, a baseball cap, fielding glove, a Little League-approved bat, a great attitude, and good work ethic.


WHEN AND WHERE DO PLAYERS PRACTICE?

Practices will start in late January/early February and run throughout the season. Practices typically occur on weekdays at one of the local area fields that TELL has access to. The Team Manager will set the day and time for team practices, based on his practice field allocation and personal availability.


 WHERE AND WHEN ARE GAMES PLAYED?

All divisions (except pee wee divisions) will typically have two games per week. One during the week and one on Saturday. 

The Pee Wee divisions, tball & coach pitch, will only have Saturday games. 

Saturday games typically occur between 8:00AM and 6:00PM. Weeknight games are typically played on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday between 4:30PM and 8:00PM.

Games are played at UTT and if inter-league games are played, be prepared go to other fields in our district.

Juniors will either play at Tustin Sports Park or travel to a rival league. The exact schedule will be released after all players have been registered and the teams have been formed.


WHAT EQUIPMENT DOES THE LEAGUE PROVIDE?

The league will provide team jerseys and baseball caps for all divisions. In addition, the league will provide the Manager of each team base balls, batting helmets, and catchers gear for all divisions for the team to use.  The managers equipment is shared amongst all the players on the team.


WHAT EQUIPMENT DOES MY PLAYER NEED TO PROVIDE?

Players are expected to bring their own fielding glove and cleats.   Players are welcome to bring their own position-specific equipment, such as catcher’s gear, if so desired.  Players may bring their own Little League approve baseball bats, but please note that Little League guidelines on approved bats are constantly evolving. Players should be equipped with the following for their personal use:

Optional equipment that each player may wish to provide, includes:

  • Equipment Bag
  • Batting Gloves
  • Personal Protective Gear, for example:
    • Batting helmet facemask
    • Heart/Chest guard
    • Mouth Guard


WHAT IS THE REFUND POLICY?

A full refund will be awarded before the formation of teams. After teams are formed, no refunds will be awarded.

There will be no refunds for cancellation of games or postponement of season (after teams are formed), due to unforseen circumstances (ex: pandemic/natural disaster/etc). This policy has been set in place as the majority of our costs are incurred at the beginning of the season, such as the purchasing of uniforms, equipment, league fees, field rental, etc.
