Registration is now open for the 2025 Spring season! All the details you need to know are below but if we forgot something, feel free to get in touch with any questions you may have: EMAIL US HERE
- Player eligibility: 7th or 8th graders who reside in the Southridge HS attendance boundary or plan to attend Southridge via in-district transfer (6th graders are able to play if born before 9/1/2012).
- Season dates: practices will begin in March; games will begin in April. The season will continue through the beginning of July and can extend into mid-July if teams qualify for district and state playoffs (please keep this in mind when scheduling family vacations). Teams will typically practice 2-3 days per week until the beginning of the season. Once games start, practices will be reduced to 1-2 per week. There will likely be a few weekend tournaments during the course of the season.
- Team formation: we only field teams in the Senior division of Westside JBO (7th/8th grade). Within each division, there are three levels of play:
- Federal: competitive level for highly skilled and experienced players (mostly 8th grade)
- American: moderate level for experienced players who are working to improve their skills (combination of 7th and 8th grade)
- National: less competitive level for inexperienced players or those who need more focus on skill development (mostly 7th grade)
- Player evaluations: coaches will evaluate players to determine appropriate team placement so they can be in the right spot to have success during the season while increasing their love for baseball. We don't want kids to end up on a team that they won't contribute to or play with/against kids that aren't on the same competitive level as they are.
- Evaluation dates: players should attend both sessions; they must attend one session if they want to be placed on a team.
- Session 1: Tuesday, February 18 (no school day); 3:00 PM-4:30 PM at Southridge
- Session 2: Sunday, February 23; 10:00 AM-11:30 AM at Southridge
- Registration fee: the cost per player for 2025 will be $570. This includes a hat, jersey, belt and baseball socks for each player as well as field rental fees, insurance and administrative expenses for their team. As a non-profit corporation, our goal is for the fee to cover all of our annual organizational costs with little room to spare. We are able to offer some financial aid for players in need of assistance; just send an email and we will get the necessary paperwork out to you.
- Coaches, board members and other volunteers: we are always looking for help! You will have the option to volunteer as a coach while registering your player on-line. All coaches require approval by our JBO board and High School coaching staff. If you'd like to join our board or offer your services elsewhere, get in touch and we will put you to work.
We are looking forward to a great season and appreciate your support. Spread the word to your other Skyhawk baseball players so 2025 can be our most successful season yet!
