Introduces 5 and 6 year old girls to the fundamental rules and skills of softball.  Players will be introduced to hitting, throwing and catching mechanics in a safe and fun environment.  This program is for new softball players Little League ages 5 through 6.

Schedule:  Teams will meet for an hour and a half once per week [day TBD] starting early May and lasting 6 weeks.  The first 45 minutes will be practice and then we will have a game for the last 45 minutes or so. 

Teams: There will be six teams of about 7-8 players per team.  We will organize teams by school and buddy requests.  If your daughter was 5 years old last year and played T-Ball, she has the option of playing T-Ball again or moving up to AA coach pitch softball.

Volunteers: Coaching at this age group is very easy.  We will have a quick 30 minute coaches training before the first practice and we will walk the coaches thru the practice stations and get everyone familiar with the process.  Moms, don’t be shy about volunteering for coaching -- we can never have too many moms helping.  We will be forming teams in mid-April and will send out team rosters then.

Practices and Games:  There will be three practice stations: hitting, fielding, and a short game of kick ball to work on fielding and base running.  Teams will rotate every 15 minutes to the next practice station.  During the game portion of our time, the girls will hit off the T with a whiffle ball bat and we will use softie balls.  Every girl will bat each inning.  We will rotate infield and outfield and will try to make sure everyone gets to try each position over the course of the season.  Scores will not be kept.

Player Gear:  In an effort to keep costs down for gear we are trying to keep the format as simple as possible while providing an opportunity to learn the basics of softball.  You will not need to go out and buy any special gear for your daughter to participate in this program.  The league will provide a jersey and all equipment needed for practice/games -- all your daughter needs to do is show up and be ready to have some fun.
