2026- Spring Challenger Season

The Little League Challenger Division® was founded in 1989, and is Little League’s adaptive baseball program for individuals with physical and intellectual challenges.

Any individual with a physical or intellectual challenge may participate. If an individual can participate in the traditional Little League Baseball or Softball program with reasonable accommodations they should do so. The Little League Challenger Division accommodates players ages 4 to 18; or up to age 22 if still enrolled in school. The Senior League Challenger Division accommodates players ages 15 and above (no maximum age).

2026 Spring Girls Softball

Ira Township Little League provides softball programs for players from age 7 to 16 years old. If you live or attend school within our league boundaries you can play softball with us.  
Softball programs are group by "league age".  Softball league age is based on the players year of birth and can be determined checking the 2025 chart below or by using the Little League calculator.  Softball league age is calculated differently than baseball league age.
Following are ages for the various divisions in baseball and softball. Please read the divisions page for more details.
Registration for the 2026 Spring Season will open December 1st, 2025.

2026 Spring Little League

T-BALL
Rookie baseball introduces 4 year-olds to the fundamental rules and skills of baseball. Players will be introduced to hitting, throwing and catching mechanics in a safe and fun environment. In order to make games more lively, fun and confidence-boosting.  Games are 3 innings in length and every player bats in each inning. No scores are kept during games. 
Teams will play once per week – up to a 1:30 hour total time commitment.  The season will run from late-April through late-June.
The League provides parent volunteers as coaches, and team uniforms.  Players will need to purchase a baseball glove, long-sleeved T-shirt (for cold days).  Baseball cleats (rubber) are recommended, but running shoes will suffice. The League provides all players and 3 coaches with a team hat and uniform. 
Team parents are expected to help the coach with other important team volunteer duties like snack coordinator.
Teams are generally organized through a draft, school and buddy requests, all of which is indicated during online registration process.  It’s recommended that any buddy requests you make during registration are reciprocated by the buddy’s parents, so please coordinate with other parents prior to registration. We will try our best to honor all requests however sometimes this is not feasible.
T-BALL/COACH PITCH
T-Ball/Coach Pitch baseball is for 5 and 6-year-olds, and continues the skill building that starts in Mighty Mites baseball. Players will continue to develop individual hitting, throwing and catching mechanics in a safe and fun environment. In addition, they’ll start to learn more rules of the game, with more focus on base running and team fielding techniques. Games are 3 innings in length and every player bats in each inning. Scores are kept during games, and Standings will be kept after the half way point of the season.
The League provides parent volunteers as coaches, team baseball gear, jerseys and hats for players and 3 coaches. Players will need to purchase a baseball glove, long-sleeved T-shirt (for cold days). Baseball cleats (rubber) are recommended.
Teams will play multiple times per week – up to a 1:30 hour total time commitment.  The season will run from late-April through late-June.
Team parents are expected to help the coach with other important team volunteer duties like snack coordinator.  Teams are generally organized through a draft, school and buddy requests, all of which is indicated during online registration process.  It’s recommended that any buddy requests you make during registration are reciprocated by the buddy’s parents, so please coordinate with other parents prior to registration.  We will try our best to honor all requests however sometimes this is not feasible.
PLAYER/COACH PITCH
The Player/Coach Pitch baseball program is for 7 and 8-year-olds, and is a transitional level to Minor baseball. Players further develop their baseball skills, baseball IQ and sportsmanship in a safe and fun environment. Innings are limited to 3 outs or 5 runs scored, whichever comes first, and a maximum of 6 innings. In this division, players will be called out at the bases and can strikeout while batting. Score is kept and standings are kept

Teams have 11-12 players, depending on the number of coach volunteers, and teams are organized by draft first,  school, and neighborhood all of which parents indicate during the online registration process. Teams meet 2-3 times per week (a meeting is a practice or a game). Parents should expect a 5-hour time commitment per week.
Practice starts after registration in December and will be once a week in our indoor facility until the season starts. There are approximately 10 games in a season, and the season usually concludes with a baseball playoff in mid June, where teams play each other in a tournament format. 
The League provides parent volunteers with coaching practice plans, team baseball gear (jerseys and hats) for players and 3 coaches as well as baseball pants and socks . Players will need to purchase a baseball glove, long-sleeved T-shirt (for cold days), athletic supporter (including cup for boys). Baseball cleats (rubber) are recommended.
Team parents are expected to help the coach with other important team volunteer duties like snack coordinator, bench coach, score keeper, umpire, field prep, photo coordinator, and more.  
MINORS BASEBALL
Minors is the first program level that is 100% kid-pitch and includes players ages 9 and 10. Minors is competitive baseball but still maintains an instructional focus division that intends to be inclusive and build a strong skills foundation in anticipation of introducing competition in our year end tournament and in subsequent baseball divisions.
Teams typically have 12 players and the teams are organized by draft. Minors is predominately 9 with select 8 and 10-year-olds. Teams meet two to four times per week (a meeting is a practice or a game).
There are approximately 10 games in a season. Practice starts in December after registration in our Indoor Facility and games start in April. Games are 6 innings in length with three outs per inning.
Players pitch regulation Little League baseballs. Modified base stealing is allowed. Score is kept and standings are kept.
MAJORS BASEBALL
Majors baseball is competitive baseball but still maintains an instructional focus. Majors teams typically have 12 players and the teams are organized by draft. Majors is geared towards 11 and 12 year-olds. Teams meet two to three times per week (a meeting is a practice or a game).
There are approximately 10 games in a season. Practice starts in December after registration in our indoor facility and games start in April. Games are 6 innings in length with three outs per inning.
Players pitch regulation Little League baseballs. Base stealing is allowed. Score is kept and standings are kept.
