Another Storm Is Forming in North Central WV

Mountain State Storm represents club sport teams based out of The Bridge Sports Complex. Club sports differ from recreational leagues in that they offer a higher level of intensity and player development, have longer seasons, and are often led by professional or experienced coaches.

Non-contact football has grown in popularity over the past several years and has taken 2 primary forms: 5v5 flag and 7v7 touch. According to the International Federation of American Football, 2.4 million kids under 17 are playing organized flag football in the U.S., while millions more participate in flag globally. Flag football is growing fast, with real opportunities for scholarships, college play, NIL deals, and even the Olympic Games in 2028.

These formats focus primarily on skill positions such as quarterbacks and receivers. The fast-paced nature helps foster faster players with a high level of in-game situational awareness, translating nicely for those who play tackle. Quarterbacks can make faster reads, extend plays more efficiently, and be better prepared to manage games. Recievers can enjoy a more focused effort on route-running and develop substantially faster reflexes to make that game-winning catch.

Mountain State Storm Football is a competitive youth football club with initial offerings of the 5v5 flag football developed to allow athletes in North Central WV to train, compete, & grow under experienced coaching at The Bridge Sports Complex. After the program establishes a base, we look to offer an additional program of 7v7.

Girls' high school flag football is on the rise. With flag football sweeping the nation, the sport is expanding at an unprecedented rate. Schools across the country are recognizing the value of flag football as an official high school sport, paving the way for more girls to compete, earn college scholarships, and make history on the field. Mountain State Storm Football will make every effort to establish an all-female team to give this opportunity to ladies in the area!
