Volunteer coaches are an integral part of the little league experience, and we are grateful for your time and commitment to our programs.  We expect that all coaches have read and will abide by the code of conduct linked below.

Little League Required Coach/Volunteer Trainings:

Little League International requires that all volunteers complete the Abuse Awareness Training annually.  The training is online, and free of charge, and can be accessed at the following site:

Other trainings that are recommended and encouraged (but not required) include the Safety Awareness and First Aid Awareness courses.  Both of these courses can also be found at the above link.

Clearances/Background Check Information:

Little League International requires leagues to ensure the safety of all Little League participants.  One primary measure is to complete ANNUAL background checks on all volunteers and coaches.

To this end, Little League utilizes JDP to complete annual national background checks.  Once a coach is registered through Sports Connect, they will receive an email from JDP to complete the check online.  Our League does not have access to any personal information that you submit to JDP to complete the clearance - we only get confirmation that the clearance was completed.  

In addition to the JDP annual check, the state of Pennsylvania requires us to collect clearances for each volunteer.  These clearances are the same clearances required for volunteering in local schools or other sports leagues.  A copy of these clearances must be provided to us via email at [email protected].

If you do not have current clearances, the application links are provided below.  ALL clearances must be provided to the league prior to the start of the season!

For both of the above clearances (PA criminal history and PA Child Abuse), clearances are good for 5 years, so once you submit them to us, you won't need to do so again until they expire.

IF the volunteer has lived in PA for less than 10 years, additional clearance is needed (as required by PA Law).  This clearance does have a fee, and requires in-person fingerprinting.  To apply, see the link below:
