Want to be a Coach?

We are always looking for volunteers to help coach.  Indicate your interest during your player's registration. Coaches who have already completed their training or have pursued advanced training, receive preference in selection. Well trained coaches make for great players! REGISTER NOW!

Required Training - All Coaches

There are three mandatory training classes all coaches must complete this season.  The Abuse Awareness Training Course and the Diamond Leader Training Program are required by little league for all Head Coaches, and our league requires coaches to take the Little League First Aid Training; all Volunteers are encouraged to take these courses. Recommended Training - Upper Division Baseball Coaches

We highly recommend that upper divisional coaches pursue advanced training through USA Baseball. This gives a parent coach, even one with playing experience, more exposure to foundational principle of coaching baseball. USA Baseball also has great resources for Mobile Coaching Practice Plans and more!

USA Baseball offers this online certification program that can provide a Level A or Level B certification online. VLL will consider sponsoring a coach or a group of coaches for C level certification, which may be held locally by USA Baseball.

• Coach "A" Certification: consists of 4 courses covering health and safety, creating a positive environment, arm safety for pitchers, and recognizing and responding to misconduct. Completion of the "A" Code of Conduct is also required.
• Coach "B" Certification: consists of 9 courses that cover baserunning, hitting, pitching, catching, infield, outfield, fundamentals of the game, practice planning, coach philosophy, creating a positive team culture, and umpiring basics. Completion of the "A" Certification and "B" Code of Conduct are also required.
• Coach "C" Certification: consists of 8 courses that cover topics including strategies, game management, creating a positive experience, coaching philosophy, game and practice approach, and management of a pitching staff. Completion of the "A" and "B" Certification and completing the "C" Code of Conduct are also required.
