PUSH Flag Football League – Frequently Asked Questions

      1. 
Where will games be played?

       All games will be played at the BGCSTL Matthews-Dickey Club.

       2. What time will games be played?

       Games may begin as early as 9:00 AM. Final game times will be shared once schedules are finalized.

       3. Can I request siblings to be on the same team

       Yes. Sibling requests can be submitted during registration. While not guaranteed, we do our best to accommodate these requests.


      4. Can I request a coach?

      Yes. Coach requests may be made during registration. Requests are not guaranteed but will be considered when forming teams.

      5. If I am a coach, can I pay an additional fee to form my own team?

      Yes. Coaches may choose to form their own team for an additional fee. For more information, please contact [email protected].

      6. Can I request my child to play in a different age division?

       Age-division requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis, with player safety and skill level as top priorities.Requests must be submitted after                     registration by emailing [email protected]

      7. What equipment is required for players?

         Players are required to have:

          * Helmet

          * Mouthguard

           * Cleats (no metal cleats)

          League-provided items:

           * Jersey

            * Flags

     8. When will I find out my child’s team and schedule?

     Team rosters and game schedules will be released 1–2 weeks before the season begins via email and league communication channels.


    9. How are teams formed?

    Teams are formed based on age divisions, while considering approved sibling and coach requests to promote balanced competition.

    10. What is the refund policy?

   Refunds are available through the final day of late registration, minus a processing fee. No refunds will be issued once uniforms have been ordered.

    11. Are there practices?

     Practice schedules are determined by coach availability. Teams will have the opportunity to practice for up to 50-60 minutes before their scheduled games.

    12. How long is the season?
     The season includes:

  • 6 weeks of regular-season games
  • Playoffs
  • A championship game in the final week

 

    13. Is there an end-of-season tournament or awards?

     Yes. Most divisions will compete in playoffs leading to a championship game.

  • 1st and 2nd place teams receive trophies
  • All players receive participation certificates

    14. Are volunteers or assistant coaches needed?

    Yes. Volunteers and assistant coaches are always welcome. Head coaches may be eligible for a registration discount.

    15. What happens if it rains?

    Weather updates, delays, or cancellations will be communicated via email, text, and social media.

    16. Can I donate cleats or equipment?

     Yes. We accept gently used cleats and equipment to help players in need.

    17. Is this league for boys, girls, or coed?

    This league is coed. Boys and girls are encouraged to participate in all age divisions.

    18. Will the league provide referees?

     Yes. All games will have league-assigned referees to enforce rules and ensure fair play.

   19. Will there be training for coaches and referees?

   Yes. The league provides training sessions and resources for both coaches and referees to ensure a safe, positive experience for all participants.


PUSH FLAG LEAGUE

COACH SATURDAY GAME DAY DOCUMENT


PURPOSE

To ensure all coaches deliver a safe, structured, and positive game day experience aligned with Push Athletics standards.



ARRIVAL & SETUP

  • Arrive 1 hour  before game time

  • Check in with site director

  • Inspect field for safety (holes, debris, hazards)

  • Ensure all equipment is ready:

    • Flags

    • Footballs

    • Cones (if needed)

TEAM CHECK-IN

  • Confirm all athletes are present

  • Ensure proper gear (flags, jersey)

  • Review:

    • Hydration (water ready)

    • Any injuries or concerns

PRE-GAME WARM-UP (MANDATORY)

10–12 minutes total:

  • Dynamic warm-up (jog, high knees, etc.)

  • Stretching

  • Light route running / flag drills

* No athlete plays without warming up

COACHING FOCUS

  • Teach fundamentals (not just winning)

  • Keep instructions simple and clear

  • Rotate players (equal opportunity mindset)

  • Encourage effort and confidence


GAME MANAGEMENT

  • Know league rules before game starts

  • Maintain control of sideline

  • Communicate clearly with:

    • Players

    • Officials

    • Opposing coach

SAFETY STANDARDS

  • No contact or unsafe play tolerated

  • Enforce proper flag pulling techniques

  • Monitor athletes for:

    • Fatigue

    • Injury

    • Hydration

  • First aid kit must be accessible

PARENT INTERACTION

  • Keep communication respectful and professional

  • Do NOT engage in arguments on the sideline

  • Direct concerns to:

    • Site director

    • League staff

SIDELINE EXPECTATIONS

  • Positive energy only

  • No yelling at players

  • No negative comments toward officials or opponents

  • Coaches coach — parents support



POST-GAME RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Team huddle (2–3 minutes):

    • Highlight effort

    • Reinforce positives

  • Shake hands with opposing team

  • Ensure all players are picked up safely

  • Report any incidents or injuries

EMERGENCY PROCEDURES

In case of injury:

  1. Stop play immediately

  2. Assess situation

  3. Call for medical help if needed

  4. Contact parent/guardian

  5. Notify site director

ACCOUNTABILITY

All coaches are expected to:

  • Follow Push Athletics standards

  • Promote a safe and positive environment

  • Lead by example at all times

Failure to meet expectations may result in:

  • Warning

  • Removal from coaching duties

  • Suspension from program

Refund Policy
Push Flag League – Official Refund Policy


By registering for Push Flag League, participants and their parents/guardians acknowledge and agree to the following terms:

 

1. Non-Refundable Fees

All registration fees are non-refundable once a participant has been assigned to a team and/or once uniforms or league-related materials have been ordered.

2. Pre-Season Withdrawal

Requests for withdrawal submitted prior to team assignment and prior to uniform ordering may be eligible for a partial refund, less any administrative, processing, and transaction fees. Approval of such requests is at the sole discretion of Push Flag League.

3. No Refunds After Season Start

No refunds or credits will be issued once the league season has officially commenced, regardless of participation level, scheduling conflicts, or voluntary withdrawal.

4. Uniforms and Equipment

All fees associated with uniforms, apparel, or equipment are strictly non-refundable once orders have been placed.

5. Missed Participation

No refunds, credits, or prorated adjustments will be issued for missed games, practices, or events due to personal circumstances, including but not limited to illness, injury, travel, or scheduling conflicts.

6. League Cancellation

In the event that Push Flag League cancels a season prior to its start and no reasonable alternative is provided, participants may be offered either:

  • a league credit for future participation, or
  • a partial or full refund, as determined after accounting for incurred operational expenses.

7. Force Majeure

Push Flag League shall not be liable for refunds or credits due to circumstances beyond its control, including but not limited to acts of God, natural disasters, public health emergencies, governmental orders, or facility closures.

8. Discretion and Final Authority

All refund determinations are made at the sole and absolute discretion of Push Flag League. All decisions are final.

9. Refund Requests

All refund requests must be submitted in writing to [email protected] and must include participant details and the reason for the request.

 

 

Weather Cancellation Policy

Push Flag League – Official Weather & Safety Policy

 

Push Flag League is committed to maintaining a safe environment for all participants, coaches, officials, and spectators. All weather-related decisions will prioritize safety above all other considerations.


1. Authority to Delay, Suspend, or Cancel

Push Flag League reserves the right to delay, suspend, postpone, or cancel any game, practice, or league activity due to weather conditions or other safety concerns, including but not limited to:

  • lightning or thunder
  • heavy rain or flooding
  • extreme heat or cold
  • severe weather advisories or warnings
  • unsafe or unplayable field conditions


2. Lightning and Severe Weather Protocol

In the event lightning is detected or thunder is heard:

  • All activities will be immediately suspended.
  • Participants and spectators must vacate the field and seek appropriate shelter.
  • Activities will not resume until conditions are deemed safe in accordance with established safety guidelines.

 

3. Communication of Updates

All schedule changes, delays, or cancellations will be communicated through official Push Flag League channels, which may include email, website updates, text alerts, or team communication platforms. Participants are responsible for monitoring these channels.

 

4. Rescheduling of Games

Push Flag League will make reasonable efforts to reschedule postponed or canceled games. However, rescheduling is not guaranteed and is subject to field availability, scheduling limitations, and season constraints.

 

5. No Refunds for Weather-Related Disruptions

No refunds, credits, or fee adjustments will be issued for cancellations, delays, or modifications resulting from weather conditions or other safety-related decisions.

 

6. Game-Day Determinations

Weather and field condition decisions may be made prior to scheduled start times or on-site, depending on evolving conditions. Final authority rests with Push Flag League administrators and/or designated facility representatives.

 

7. Assumption of Risk

By participating, all players and guardians acknowledge that outdoor sports are subject to weather-related interruptions and agree to abide by all league decisions regarding safety and scheduling.
