Team camps will focus on having fun while working on skill development, team building activities, leadershp skills and competitions that demonstrate progress in the areas of skill development mentioned above.  These camps will introduce players to new skills as well as expanding on the skills they already possess.  These camps are the perfect place for players of all ages and skill levels to get involved with Arrowhead Girls’ basketball and being a part of a great program made up of great people and players.  Smaller balls and lower hoops are used for 1st through 3rd graders.

Shooting Focused Camps

July 13th through 16th

4th, 5th and 6th graders:  8:00 to 9:30 check in East Gym

7th, 8th and 9th graders:  9:30 to 11:00 check in East Gym

The goal of the Arrowhead Girls’ Basketball shooting camps is to give all participants focused guidance and work on the fundamentals of their shooting form.  Each participant will have their shooting form evaluated and will be given specific aspects of their shot to work on during the four days of the camps and beyond.  Each participant will be given the opportunity to make 100s of shots each day. Each camp is limited to 32 players.  If there is room available, 4th graders can attend the 5th-6th shooting camp if they are comfortable shooting at a 10’ hoop with a regular sized 28.5 sized girls’ basketball.

***Mini Leagues (3 on2 into 4 on 3 for younger players and 3 on 3 for older players)
July 27th-29th  (Three Days)

8:30 to 9:45   1st - 3rd Grades
For this hour the campers will be playing 3 on 2 full court that then turns into 4 on 3 coming back.  This is an idea that started this past winter as an alternative to 5 on 5 games where players are sitting and only a few actually get to be involved in the game.  This is a fast paced game where everyone gets involved.  We will use lower hoops and smaller balls for this camp.  Each session will begin with a 15:00 warmup/teaching period followed by a 60:00 game.

10:00 to 11:15   4th - 8th grades check in East Gym

Each of these three days will begin 15:00 to 20:00 of warmups followed by 3 or more games of 3 on 3.  Each day the campers will be placed on new teams and a champion will be crowned.  3 on 3 is a great game for players to work on team play, but also to have increased opportunities to handle the ball and be involved in each play than they would in a normal 5 on 5 game.  Each camp is limited to 24 players.  This camp does not include a t-shirt for the participants. There will be some mixing of the grades based on abilities, but the older players will also compete against older players.

Skills/Small Court Games

August 3rd through 6th

7th, 8th and 9th graders 9:00-10:30 check in East Gym

4th, 5th and 6th graders 10:30 to 12:00 check in East Gym

1st, 2nd and 3rd graders 12:30 to 2:00 check in West Gym

Skill development is an important  part of these 90 minute sessions but so is competition.  These camps will give all participants positive coaching in ways to improve their skills, but will also give them a fun and exciting way to challenge themselves against fellow basketball players and either current or future teammates.  There will be new skills and new competitions each day.  There will be individual and team activities.  Teammates and competitions will change each day. There is carryover from other camps, but these camps will also offer alternative activities to the activities that are used in earlier sessions from the summer.
