The Michael Pohlkamp Scholarship is awarded to two (2) graduating girls and two (2) graduating boys from St. Dominic Parish that will be attending a local parochial high school. Applicants must be a paid member of the St. Dominic Athletic Association and a student athlete.
In the memory of the spirit of Michael J. Pohlkamp, this scholarship will be awarded to the students that have demonstrated exceptional effort in both athletics and academics. The committee will take into consideration effort in school as demonstrated by attendance, effort, grades, and teacher recommendations and effort in athletics as demonstrated by attendance at practice, team spirit, and coach recommendations.
It should be noted that although school grades may be taken into consideration, in the case of two students that are equally rated, the Athletic Association would like to emphasize that this scholarship is intended to award excellence in effort regardless of grade or athletic ability. All applications are read anonymously. Meaning, the judges read all parts of each application with the applicant identities unknown. No one on the judging committee will have an eligible student in the application pool.
(Specific Instructions for the Student Athlete are included in this application)
