Fall 2025 St. Dominic Soccer Program Information

St. Dominic Pre-Season Soccer Camp

  • TBA for 2025.  Traditionally held Monday-Wednesday the last or second last week of July, for children in grades 1-8, split into sessions per grade level.
  • Nominal donation ($10/player) is collected to fund equipment upgrades.

Age-Level Based Registration and Season Info

  • Kindergarten & Preschool ages 4 & up (Pre-Passers)

    • Note: 1st Graders with 2019 Birthdays are eligible to play Pre-Passers

    • Registration will be open through early August

    • Program has traditionally been organized as follows (however subject to change based on player count and coaching availability): 60 minutes training sessions once or twice a week, starting just before Labor Day.  Kindergartners (and potentially interested, or advanced preschoolers) play 8 Sunday afternoon games as part of a team, in the WCSA league in September and October.  Younger preschoolers will participate in weeknight practices/training sessions only, with no weekend games.

  • 1st - 8th Grade (Passers, Wings, Strikers and Kickers)

    • Note: 1st Graders with 2019 Birthdays are eligible to play Pre-Passers (see above)

    • Registration will be open through May 3rd (Contact Coordinator if you have interest after this date, as teams may or may not have roster spots available)

    • All teams will train 60-90 minutes twice a week, with practices starting the 1st week of August

    • TCYO and/or other Preseason tournaments are typically held mid-August.

    • League games will start mid-August and run until mid-October.  Games are mostly on Saturdays and/or Sundays after 1pm, however teams will likely have one or two weekday evening games.

    • Post season tournaments will run late October to early November

  • High School (Freshman through Seniors)

    • Unfortunately, while St. Dominic has had enough interest to form high school teams over the last few years, the WCSA league has had not had enough interest from other organizations to form a league the past few years, making a league in 2025 unlikely.

Age matrix for the 2025 soccer season

SAY soccer follows the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) “gold” age matrix.  This means a calendar year of Jan 1st to Dec 31st is used.

For the fall 2025 season, the breakdown is as follows (with high school excluded from this summary):

  • Children born in 2011 & 2012 will play Kickers (older 7th graders; 8th graders)

    • Size 5 soccer ball

    • Games played 11v11

  • Children born in 2013 & 2014 will play Strikers (older 5th graders; 6th graders; younger 7th graders)

    • Size 4 soccer ball

    • Games played 9v9

  • Children born in 2015 & 2016 will play Wings (older 3th graders; 4th graders; younger 5th graders)

    • Size 4 soccer ball

    • Games played 7v7

  • Children born in 2017 & 2018 will play Passers (Most 1st graders, even if birthday is in 2019; 2nd graders; younger 3rd graders)

    • Size 3 soccer ball

    • Games played 7v7

    • Note: 2019 1st graders have the option to play Pre-Passers.  Soccer Coordinator may reach out to discuss options for your child.

  • Children in Kindergarten or Preschool ages 4 & up by Sept 1st 2025 will play Pre-Passers (mostly 2019 and 2020 birthdays)

    • Size 3 soccer ball

    • Kindergartners will play 7v7 games in league

    • Preschoolers typically just have practices and intra-team scrimmages.  Parents can communicate with the Coordinator if they feel their child is interested or capable of joining a Kindergarten team.

Please note that The St Dominic Soccer Program can, and will, move kids “up” depending on individual player situations and team number needs. For example if we have a 3rd grader who is at the Passer level this fall and dominated on a passer team as a 2nd grader last season, and we are short players at the Wings level, then we will likely move that player up to the Wings level. This will be very beneficial to both the more skilled players as they will play at a higher level and the lesser skilled players as they will get a chance to play at a lower level with fewer players and have the ability to get more touches on the ball. The same will apply for 5th and 7th graders.  Because SAY soccer require the random drawing of teams by the WCSA league, no guarantees can be given on what team a child may be placed (unless their parent is a head or assistant coach)The St. Dominic program will do its best to ensure no single player is placed at a level without other players in their school grade level.

Typically, we move many 1st graders born in 2019 to the passer level, however the Soccer Coordinator may reach out on an individual basis to discuss options or desires for your child.  If you do wish your 1st grader born in 2019 to play at the Pre-Passers level, be sure to let the Soccer Coordinator know by emailing the email address below.
