Welcome to the Tigers

Welcome to the 7/8U Tigers

This winter has kept us cooped up long enough. Dust off those cleats, gloves and bats.... it's time for some baseball !!

I know many of you from prior baseball , football and hockey teams, but for those that do not know me here is a little background: I have 3 kids in the league now, this is our 5th season in this league, I have coached/managed Tball teams, 7u and 8u baseball teams, flag football teams and hockey. This season I am managing our 7/8u team and assisting on a Tball team.  I’m going to try and be “hands off” on my son in Majors.

Keep your eye out for emails from the league regarding the upcoming Parent Meeting and other updates. I will send emails with the Subject Line of “PCLL 7/8U Tigers – [subject]” that will basically mirror the league's emails but also I will have specific content for our team so please read my emails in their entirety even if it starts off the same as the league's emails.

Things such as practice days, game times, field locations are all TBD. I will pass along information as I get it.  Typically, we get our practice field assignments in April.

I will probably host a parent/player meeting at my house in the near future on a weekend before we get started.  Keep a look out for that email.

Required Equipment – League Provided:

The league provides batting helmets, bats, heart guard for the pitcher, and catchers equipment.

Required Equipment – Player Provided:

The only required equipment that the league does not provide is a glove.  Buy a glove ASAP if you haven’t already.   I like Vinci gloves because they are good quality leather.

Recommended Equipment to bring:

Cleats – Not required but essential.

Helmet - I recommend buying a batting helmet.  Luckily, the cost of helmets has plummeted and you can pick up a decent helmet for $19-30.  The most important feature of a helmet is the fit (not color, not racing stripes, etc).   Go to Dicks or Dunhams and try them on.

Bats - I also recommend bringing a bat. Unlike helmets, bats are very expensive.  If you decide to buy a helmet, make sure you check the approved bat list FIRST.   Go to Little League international and read before you buy:  http://www.littleleague.org/learn/equipment/baseballbatinfo.htm

The last thing you want to do is spend $300 on bat that your player will never be allowed to use.

Here is a 20% off Dunhams coupon good through 3/14/15

Please complete a Volunteer Application so you can help out with the team. The forms are located in the “documents” section of the BlueSombero/League website. If you have not passed the background check, you cannot help out at the games or the practices. That includes throwing a ball around during warm ups. Two years ago I had to tell a parent he couldn't practice with us and it awkward for the both of us. Please don't put either of us in that position.

Again, welcome to the 7/8U Tigers. If you have any questions, then send me an email or call me 734-536-7333.

GO TIGERS !!!
