FAIRMONT — The West Fairmont Middle School wrestling team took first place in the North Marion 12th annual Roy Michael Holiday Classic Wrestling Tournament last weekend. 

A total of 18 teams and more than 200 wrestlers competed in the event, which had age groups and weight classes ranging from 4 and under 30 pounds to 11-12-year-old heavyweights.

Taking first place for West Fairmont were Slayton Jack, Hunter Spitznogle, Caden Michalski, Alex Naternicola, Triston Wills and Mason Stewart.

Second-place finishers included Hayden Spitznogle, Rocco Tarley, Dylan Apanowicz, Jason Walker, Bryan Phillips, Kharmine Laquinta, Brayden Stevens and Raustyn Wade.

Third-place finishers included Kenyen Jefferson, Chase Wharton, Dominick Frisenda, Brock Nichols, Logan Wills and Somya Cottingham.

Fourth-place finishers included William Stewart and BryLeigh Jack.

Team scores were based on each team’s top 10 performances.
