Thank you for your interest in Our Lady of Victory's girls volleyball program! Our goal is to provide a fun environment for girls to learn and enjoy the sport of volleyball. Victory girls volleyball is open to all active members of Our Lady of Victory parish and school. Enrollment in either Our Lady of Victory school or Our Lady of Victory Parish School of Religion (PSR) is required for girls to participate.

Our Lady of Victory plays in the Greater Western Athletic Conference (GWAC – gwacsports.com) against other West side parish teams. The league is divided into four grade-based levels:

3rd/4th level is instructional, with no standings or score reporting. Girls are taught the fundamentals of the sport and the emphasis is on having fun while learning. Teams play an 8-match schedule from early November through late December. Teams also participate in at least 1 local tournament. Practices are held twice per week starting in October.

5th/6th and 7th/8th levels have teams divided into A, B1, and B divisions based on ability and desired level of competition. A is the most competitive division, while B is recreational, with B1 being a balance of competitive and recreational. Placement on teams is determined by a tryout process. Tryouts are conducted in two sessions in mid-August to determine team assignments, with criteria for players being based on all aspects of volleyball skill: serving, passing, hitting, and overall ability. Emphasis is still placed on learning and enjoying the sport while competing against similarly-skilled teams, with scores and standings reported. Teams play a 10-match schedule from early November to early January, with twice-weekly practices starting in October. Teams also participate in up to 2 local tournaments.

High School level is a recreational division available to girls who are not rostered on a high school volleyball team and who are Our Lady of Victory alumna. Teams do not regularly practice and participate in a 10-match season from early November to early January. The goal of this level is to provide a fun opportunity for Victory graduates to reconnect and enjoy rec volleyball.

Teams will be organized in to Instructional, Junior Varsity, and Varsity. Players will be placed on one of the 3 teams based on score, irrespective of grade level. Everyone who signs up will beplaced on a team in 1 of the 3 skill levels. There is a possibility of multiple teams per skill level (e.g. 2 instructional). Each player, regardless of skill level, must complete 3 rounds of golf at Robins Nest from the white or blue tees (whichever is the farthest back) any time between now and June 8.

The season goes from late July/ early August until the first week in October and may conflict with football as the season goes on, but it is still doable. We are trying to frontload matches in the summer to not conflict as much with football. Matches during the summer will usually be played early in the morning/afternoon. Once school starts, matches will be played soon after school lets out. We are trying to have more on Sunday when school is in session. Practice will be once or twice a week and will be around 5-7p.m. in the evening.
