Appleton Area Rugby - Dragons

Established in 2012...

In the Year of the Dragon

The Appleton Dragon Rugby Club was established in November 2012 as part of an effort of the Dragon Youth Rugby Foundation to generate a greater appreciation for the sport of Rugby. One rainy fall afternoon, a few good men brought together years of "what if" hopes and dreams to form a new tradition in Appleton. The goal; to offer rugby to boys and girls from 1st grade through 12th and create an environment to learn and grow through the sport of rugby into great kids, and also great athletes and citizens.

Our logo, a three-headed dragon, represents our commitment to developing boys, girls, and youth rugby.  The team colors were chosen in part, based on their meaning in traditional heraldry. In heraldry, yellow indicates honor and loyalty. Green indicates growth and hope. While purple is associated with power and ambition. It is the hope and ambition of the founding members of this club to instill the ideals of honor and valor in the future leaders of Appleton rugby.

After accomplishing our goals of creating a new boys program, we started a girls high school team, and branched out into 1-8th grade flag rugby. In 2018 we were presented with a great opportunity to expand our offerings and coverage area by combining with the Valley Crusaders. Our color scheme and logo were all new in a effort to make our new brethren feel welcome.

We look to the future, with great ambition!
