FAQ - Spring Season 2019

(1)  Is the season 8 games plus a playoff (9 games minimum)? Yes
 

(2) What is the exact timeline of the season and will there be double headers? Double headers yes.   Timeline - Practices start the week of March 11. Opening Night for the season is March 23rd the season will end May 18th. Last regular season game will be May 11th.  Playoffs will be May 17 (Friday) and Championship May 18 (Saturday). Below are the actual game nights
There will be game nights every Saturday March 23 - May 18. 
Added Game Nights Non Saturdays
Friday May 10 and 17.
*Games on Saturday may start at 12pm.

(3) When do practices start? The week of March 11. Practices will be at one of the following facilities Oak, MAP, Johnson Middle School, Stanford Middle School, or Warner Middle School.  The practices will be offered once a week.  Practice is included in the registration fee. Each team will receive 1 hour practice time per week. Practices are scheduled on a first come first serve basis.

(4)Are there a games during spring break weekend? Due to varying schedules we will play all weekends during Spring. 

(5)Is there a team size minimum? (i.e., how many players/ team can join) Up to 10 players can join a team but most teams will average out to have 9.  Coaches can request and get approval for more than 10.

(6)Will there be a game day referee/scorekeepers fee? NO EXTRA FEES. All is included in registration fee.

(7) When does Spring registration start? 1/19.

(8) What are the fees? Early Bird registration fee is $220 and that is good until January 31. Then the registration fee is $240 thereafter.  To redeem the registration enter in the coupon code "Sp19early".

(9) What do I get for the registration fee?

    * 8 regular season games
    * End-of-season, single-elimination playoff (guarantee of at least one playoff game)
    * All practice time INDOOR at the Oak, MAP, Jonshon/Warner/Stanford Middle Schools or AIM (weekly for the duration of the season)
    * Two REAL highly trained referees at each game at each grade level
    * All games played on full sized courts.  No miniature courts at Alley-Oop.
    * High Quality Alley-Oop league uniform
    * THE Coveted High Quality Designer T-shirt

(10) So what additional fees are there?  NO ADDITIONAL FEES.

(11) Are Volunteer Coaches needed?  YES!!!

(12) I am a coach and I have a full team that requires uniform and gymtime, how do I register?  It is easy, simply register to coach on the coach registration form.  Once registered a team website will be given.  From the team site you can send invitations to players via e-mail or the site will have a team code you can give for players to use when they register.  Once they register one of these two ways they will be automatically assigned to your team.

(13) How do I get the early bird discount?  Enter the code "Sp19early" before the deadline of January 31.

 (14) Where are games played?  All games are held at the state of the art sports complex AIM in Seal Beach, The MAP in Garden Grove, or Oak/Johsnon/Warner Middle School.  The addresses are below:

 (15) Do we have to pay for parking and/or an entrance fee?  NO FEE'S.  No parking fee's and no entrance fee's.  NO FEE'S

(16) If I coach can my child be paired up with a friend? Yes, coaches can freeze family and friends.

(17) What uniform colors are available?  Uniforms come in most colors in the rainbow.  Uniforms can be all one color or you can mix and match jersey and short colors.   Lettering and numbering will be black or white.  Lettering and numbering colors are pre-determined and based on jersey color.

(18) I play other sports will this interfere with those games? Alley-Oop strives to not conflict with major sports in the local area. In Spring most games will be Saturday nights. So plenty of time for other sports!

(19) When will games be played? Mostly Saturday Nights between 4-9:30pm.  Two Friday game nights will be added.  Games may start before 4pm on Saturdays if we have a high number of teams.  Also we do take schedule requests from coaches. 

(20) My team does not need uniforms or gym-time how do I get the reduced fee of $1020 per team?  Click on the team registration link instead of the individual registration link.

(21) What Grade do I Register for?? Register for the grade your child is in, as of September 2018. 

(22) What is TeamSnap?? TeamSnap is the leading provider of online registration and web design for youth sports clubs and organizations.  Alley-Oop is making the switch to help improve the customer's experience.  Blue Sombrero was the previous provider and was not excelling in user interface and offering a functional app.  So to better serve the league we are making the switch.  Thanks for your patience as we start the transition.

(23) When is the skill evaluation? (Revised on 2/28) The Skill Evaluation will be held on March 7 at The MAP Sports Facility.  1st-4th Grade will be 6:30-7:00pm and 5th - 8th will be 7:00-7:30pm.
