Kauai Youth Soccer Association (KYSA)
was officially formed in early 2025 as a direct response to the cancellation of the Spring 2025 Soccer Season by the Kauai Soccer Association, who had been organizing your soccer on Kauai for years.
Faced with the sudden cancellation and the absence of an organized structure
to serve over 500 children on the island, a grassroots movement emerged. Seven
of Kauai’s eight active competitive youth soccer clubs – Braveheart FC, Po‘ohala
FC, Keahi SC, Mana FC, Onipa‘a, Kaleimanu, and North Shore Strikers – came
together to form KYSA. Our purpose was not to compete with KSA, but to
ensure that our keiki would not be left without an opportunity to play, grow, and
develop. Kauai Rush was also invited to join KYSA but declined.
From its inception, KYSA has been grounded in the principles of fairness,
community representation, and transparency. Our mission is to empower youth
through soccer by fostering teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth in
an inclusive environment where every club has equal representation and all
major decisions are made democratically through a majority vote.
KYSA was officially sanctioned under the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF)
umbrella through SAY for its inaugural season, ensuring that our structure and
operations meet national standards.
Currently, five clubs are represented by one (1) board member, alongside two (2) at-large members (an
independent treasurer and a referee representative), meaning that each club has
the same voice as every other club, no matter the size and number of
players/teams.
This spring, KYSA successfully completed its inaugural season with over 400
youth players and nearly 40 teams participating across all age divisions. The
feedback from parents, players, referees, and clubs has been overwhelmingly
positive. Everyone would like to see the positive changes KYSA has made
continue for the future of soccer on Kauai.
KYSA is about to embark on it second season, starting September 13th, 2025.
