2020 Junior Qualification Bonspiel Dates, Locations & Registration Links


Junior NBQ #1 - Nov. 8-10, 2019, Midland Curling Club

Junior NBQ #2 - Nov. 22-24, 2019, Curl Mesabi

NOTE: 
All qualifiers will have an optional Friday morning pre-event practice, and all qualifiers will conclude by late Sunday afternoon.  If you are flying to an event, plan on arriving Thursday evening and departing Sunday evening. Depending on numbers, qualifiers may start later and end earlier, but under no circumstances will they run outside these guidelines.

Coaches & Team Officials –Must be at least 21 years of age. A coach must register with the USCA 15 business days (see U21 & under details below) in advance of the start of competition and complete the following requirements:

(i) Provide his or her personal information and agree to the code of ethics (included in the online registration process).

(ii) Complete a successful background screen by the National Center for Safety Initiatives at least 10 days prior to a respective event start date (information provided after registration).

(iii) Read the SafeSport handbook (information provided after registration).

(iv) Complete the SafeSport training modules (information provided after registration).

Coaches must also register with the team athletes under the respective event in the Blue Sombrero online registration system as a “volunteer” to appear on the team roster. Coach event registration serves as a source of communication to others on the team, and allows team members also, the ability to monitor when team member registrations are completed (team member names appear on the team roster as their registration requirements are manually reviewed and appear to be complete). Teams may have only one designated coach and one other team official per game. Any change in the designated coach and/or team official must be noted on the line-up card provided to the Chief Umpire prior to the beginning of the game.  Coaches and team officials should register 30 days in advance of an event, as background checks are required (up to ten days to complete; international background checks typically require at least 30 days for completion).

Coaches are required for ALL U21 and under events (Junior & U18 National Championship teams).

NEW for 2020 Season, in compliance with US Center for Safeport and USA Curling MAAPP Policy, legal Guardian Consent forms are required for all minor athletes giving consent to a supervising adult or coach when a legal parent or guardian is not present or accompanying a minor athlete. Consent forms are to be carried by all designated coaches and supervising adults.



2020 Junior National Championships

The Junior National Championships are aimed at determining our top junior-aged teams from within the United States. The field of eight teams will be determined by a berth qualifier system which will select six teams, and the HPP junior teams will fill the last two spots.

Event Eligibility: 
Any player who is less than 21 years of age at any time on or before the 30th day of June of the year immediately preceding the year the competition is to take place (6/30/2019). Players must be United State Citizens as of the deadline date. In addition, players must be paid members of a USCA member club.

Entry Process and Playdown Window: All participants must register and pay the USCA registration fee prior to playing in their first qualifier. Teams must register with the host of the qualifier(s) of their choice. Club bonspiel fees may be charged and are non-refundable and will be retained by the club for its expenses. Teams may enter as many events as they wish. Teams (and individual players) will be ineligible to play in any successive qualifying event if they have secured a berth in a previous berth qualifier to Junior Nationals. Teams do not need to have the same team members for each event. Teams may reconfigure with different players for each event. Once a team is qualified to the Junior National Championships, the team is set and there is no option to add or remove players (only alternates if one had not been selected for the qualification event).

Coaches MUST be registered with the USCA at least 10 business days prior to the deadline for the first event in which they will coach. NO EXCEPTIONS TO THE 10 DAYS PRIOR. Teams are ineligible without a registered coach who has met ALL coaching requirements, including a completed background screen and SafeSport training.

WCF rules regarding sweeping equipment (www.worldcurling.org/brushes) will apply to all playdowns and championship events that are USCA sanctioned events. If you have not already uploaded your current proof of citizenship, please take a moment to go back into your account settings and upload one of the following documents as acceptable proof of citizenship: Signature Page of U.S. Passport, Certified Birth Certificate, Enhanced Driver's License, and/or Notarized Statement from a witness seeing your U.S. Naturalization Certificate. All events leading to World competition require proof of citizenship. Proof can be uploaded during registration or emailed to [email protected]

Overview: The USCA U18 National Championships are a regional-based, geographic championship aimed at determining our top under 18-aged teams from within the USCA regions. Teams move through the playdown process via the traditional state and regional championships. Any player who is less than 18 years of age at any time on or before the 30th day of June (6/30/2019) of the year immediately preceding the year the competition is to take place. All team members must be league playing member of a USCA member club within the same registered region. The winning teams shall represent the USA at the U18 Players Championship Slam, April 2020 (Dates TBD).

Coaches are required for ALL U21 and under events (Junior & U18 National Championship teams). NEW for 2020 Season, in compliance with US Center for Safeport and USA Curling MAAPP Policy, legal Guardian Consent forms are required for all minor athletes giving consent to a supervising adult or coach when a legal parent or guardian is not present or accompanying a minor athlete. EVENT DESCRIPTION and REGISTRATION DETAILS: The USCA Club National Championship is a club-based, geographic championship aimed at determining our top teams from the regions (and/or states). Teams move through the playdown process via the traditional state and regional championships. National Club Champions do not advance to world play.  U.S. residency is required (see USCA Rules book-Residency definition.). In addition to the USCA membership requirements, all team members must be dues-paying, league-playing members of the same USCA club (All players must be reported on the listed member club's membership roster for 2020). Refer to the USCA Rules of Curling &Competition for complete eligibility guidelines.

ATTENTION-Late Registration: Open for 48 hours after the close of registration, All late registrations will be taken over the phone, by calling the USCA national office. A $75 late registration fee will be charged to each person's registration.

2020 Senior National Championships

Senior Mens & Womens National Championships

*Start and finish dates for both the Senior Men’s and Senior Women’s events are subject to change, depending on the number of entries (accordion in nature).
 It is recommended that travel arrangements ie. flights, not be made until the number of registered teams have been determined (close of registration). 

The Senior Men’s and Women’s National Championships are non-geographic championships aimed at determining our top senior teams. There are no regional or state playdowns. Any player who is at least 50 years of age at any time on or before the 30th day of June of the year immediately preceding the year the competition is to take place and is a citizen of the United States as of the registration deadline, is eligible to compete. The winning teams shall represent the USA at the 2020 Senior Men's & Women's World Championships

*Please read the USCA Athlete Coach Code of Conduct (you will be asked to verify that you have read and accept the conditions of the USCA Athlete/Coach Code of Conduct document during registration.)

LATE FEES ($75 per player) WILL BE CHARGED TO ALL REGISTRATIONS RECEIVED WITHIN 48 HOURS AFTER THE CLOSE OF REGISTRATION. To compleat a late registration, please call the USCA office during business hours.

2020 Mixed National Championship

Entry Fee: $110.00 per player, plus any regional fees.

EVENT DESCRIPTION and REGISTRATION DETAILS: The USCA Mixed National Championship is a regional-based, geographic championship aimed at determining our best mixed teams from the regions (and/or states). Teams move through the playdown process via the traditional regional championships. The winning team of the Mixed National Championship will advance to the Mixed World Championship. In addition to the USCA membership requirements, Mixed teams must have at least two players who reside in the region where the team will play down. Refer to the USCA Rules of Curling &Competition for complete eligibility guidelines.
