Delaware Knights Soccer Club

CLUB PROGRAM

Introduction

The Delaware Knights Soccer Club (DSSC) is DYAA’s competitive soccer program. DKSC teams play their regular season games in the Mid Ohio Select Soccer League (MOSSL), Buckeye Premier Soccer League (BPL), Ohio Champions League (OCL) or Central Ohio Premier League (COPL) and participate in at least two select, invitational tournaments in the Fall season and 2 in the Spring season. DKSC boasts over 20 competitive boys and girls select teams playing in the U8 Academy through U19 Age divisions. To learn more about our U8 Academy Program please click here.

DKSC is dedicated to advancing competitive youth soccer in the central Ohio area.  DKSC is committed to the long-term development of its players by providing competitive opportunities at the appropriate levels, where hard work and commitment to team goals are rewarded. Our outstanding volunteer base, professional coaching and management continues to make the DKSC an outstanding program.

Club Philosophy

DKSC tries to balance winning and sportsmanship; exhibiting self-control and not putting too much emphasis on ‘winning-at-all-costs’. Winning is an important part of the program, but it is not the only important aspect. We instruct coaches to attempt to place equal emphasis on developing all players in game and practice scenarios; balancing competition, development and winning. However, the DKSC program is ultimately competitive and because of this, playing time for individual players can vary and is exclusively determined by the respective DKSC coach. The DKSC coach’s decisions will be based on various observations and factors across practices and games. A player's commitment, attendance, and effort may impact playing time. To ensure optimum team results, it is the DKSC coach’s exclusive decision to position players where they can best help the team. No player is guaranteed to play a specific position.

Parent & Player Conduct

DKSC players and coaches should conduct themselves in a positive and responsible manner and act as ambassadors of DKSC, its sponsors and the sport. Players and parents are representatives of DKSC on and off the fields. Misconduct while participating in a DKSC event can be grounds for discipline. The DKSC Code of Conduct states ‘All players, coaches, parents, team and league representatives shall conduct themselves in an acceptable manner and shall be subject to disciplinary actions from their coaches or official representatives of DKSC during the Soccer Season. Time Commitment

The DKSC season opens in August and closes at the end of October. The Spring portion of the season opens in March and closes at the end of May.  Teams will run 2-3 training sessions a week before games start, then you expect an 8-10 game season with 1-2 training sessions per week.   U9-U14 will have 2 tournaments per season, 2 in the Fall and 2 in the Spring (these are included in your fees).  3 of the tournaments are HOME and we try to do 1 AWAY (within 2-3hrs) for the teams to enjoy a fun out-of-town tournament experience.  We know kids love to stay in hotels with their teammates.

Academy will have 8-10 games a season and have 1 tournament in Fall and 1 tournament in Spring.

There are opportunities for the Knights to participate in Winter training and some coaches promote winter indoor league opportunities as well. These Winter opportunities are recommended but are completely optional.  DKSC also runs a Summer Camp which is an excellent

Before You Tryout

If you are interested in joining the Knights family, we highly suggest attending a training session or two to be evaluated by our staff. This is a great time to test out the club, see the potential coaches and players that your son or daughter may play with.  This is also a good time to ask questions and get a feel for what the Knights are all about. Please click a link below to email about scheduling a Guest Training Session. Afterward, a coach will be in touch to set up a session that best fits your schedule.

Playing Time & Positions

All players selected for a DKSC team will play in competitive club games and tournaments. Due to the competitive focus of DKSC club teams, this general rule does not equate to equal playing time for all players. Playing time for individual players can vary and is determined by the respective DKSC coach. The DKSC coach’s decisions will be based on various coach observations and factors across practices and games, including performance, skill, commitment, and conduct. Players are expected to commit to the team and put forth their best effort at practices and games. Commitment, attendance, and effort may impact playing time. To ensure optimum team results, it is the DKSC coach’s decision to position players where they can best help the team. No player is guaranteed to play any specific position.
