Age FAQ's

- LYBO's allows in-house recreational players to play with their AGE or play up with their GRADE.
- Kids play Fall Ball in the age group they will be in the upcoming Spring for developmental reasons.
- Note that Little League sets ages based on 2 year windows of 8U, 10U Minors, 12U Majors. This gets confusing when comparing to LYBO's 7U, 8U being split, and when considering Generals/Colonels teams where the ages are in 2 year increments in 10U and 12U. So when a child is 9, they tend to be on a 9U Generals team but actually they are in the 10U division with LL. So age doesn't usually impact a 9 or 11 year old for they fall in the lower end of a 2 year gap of 10 minors or 12 majors.
- We will consider any requests at [email protected] or [email protected]

Examples:
- My kids bday is August 17, 2011. He is 5, turning 6 in Aug of 2017. Should he play fall for the 6U? No, we play fall ball for the age will be in the spring. And according to LL age calc, he is actually in 7u in the spring so he will play in 7/8 u for fall. That is unless you request to have him play with his grade and we can bump down to 6u.

- My son is a July bday and is on the 8u Generals team, can he play 9U next year? Yes he can next year since the LL age range is 2 years of 10 and 9U. However a year from now, he will be too old to play in 10U LL so will have to make a 10/11 Generals team, a 11U Generals team, or play in 12/11U rec.

Below are details and age ranges for 2019 Spring season.

5U Tee Ball – DOB 9/1/13 – 8/31/14 – League Coordinator Joe Furey
This is instructional tee-ball with coaches on the field.  Teams will be created after coaches are selected and all efforts will be made to ensure parity is established but consider learning and having fun is the focus. We keep the team sizes small so no one is sitting and kids play all positions.

Teams play games on Saturday morning/early afternoon at LECC. The season will begin in late April (weather permitting). We hope to have fields open in March for practice. Practice days will be at coach discretion and historically only a few practices occur before the season actually starts.

Season schedule includes 10 games with 8 on Saturday and 2 during the week (again, weather permitting).

6U Coach Pitch DOB 9/1/12 – 8/31/13 – League Coordinator  Joe Furey
This is all instructional coach pitch with coaches on the field.  Teams will be created after coaches are selected and all efforts will be made to ensure parity is established but consider learning and having fun is the focus. We keep the team sizes small so no one is sitting and kids play all positions.  This is managed by the discretion of the league director so we do avoid stacked teams.

7-8U Minors DOB 9/1/10 – 8/31/12 – League Coordinator Rob Stineman
After kids are registered, coaches are selected and they can keep up to 4 players from the previous season (including their own children).  This is in an effort to keep kids knowing one another and playing with their friends.

After an evaluation, the teams are built to ensure parity.  Teams may be split into divisions to even increase the parity so that all talent levels and ages of kids can maximize their experience. This is managed by the discretion of the league director so we do avoid stacked teams.  In 2016, 7U division was all coach pitch for 1/2 the season and then moved to 2 innings kid pitch and 4 innings coach. In 2016 our 8U division had 3 innings coach pitch then 3 innings kid pitch. This was very well received.

Games will be played against in house Loveland rec teams during the week and on Saturdays mainly at LMS, Kiwanis Park, and McCoy. Coaches can choose to have 1 coach on the field during defense and is required that each kid plays infield and outfield but safety needs to be considered.

9-10U Minors DOB 9/1/08 – 8/31/10 – League Coordinator Al Juram
After kids are registered, coaches are selected and they can keep up to 4 players from the previous season (including their own children).  An evaluation will be held and the remaining kids are selected via a draft in late February.  This is managed by the discretion of the league director so we do avoid stacked teams.

Games will be played against in house Loveland rec teams during the week and on Saturdays at LMS and Miami Riverview.

11-12U Majors DOB  9/1/06 – 8/31/08  – League Coordinator Andy Lumpkin
After kids are registered, coaches are selected and they can keep up to 4 players from the previous season (including their own children) with parent approval.  An evaluation will be held and the remaining kids are selected via a draft in late February.  Games will be played against in house Loveland rec teams as well as some out of house teams at LMS and Miami Riverview as well as a potential for some out of house teams in the local area.

13U – DOB  9/1/05 – 8/31/06 – Travel Coordinator Rob Stineman
Teams are formed by coaches and players communicating to build team(s) and getting approval from parents. Historically we have extra kids that register and we will work to provide all a chance to play.

Games will be played against all out of house teams in the District 9 Little League and other games and tourneys the coach decides upon. Home field will be Stottman Park.

14U – DOB  9/1/04 – 8/31/05 – Travel Coordinator Rob Stineman
