Tri-Regions Top 15 of 2023

Our initial 2023 rankings sees a good amount of talent that splashed onto the varsity scene as freshmen. Some were starters from day one, and others were very solid contributors. Here's the breakdown of our Top 5, and the link to look at our entire Top 15.
At the top of rankings, we go out west in the Tri-Regions to El Paso, where
KJ Lewis (Chapin HS)
holds down the top spot. The 6'3" super athletic shooting guard not only started from day one, but at times carried the huskies to a 26 win season. Is set to play on the EYBL, if and when the AAU season gets started. His ability to score from mid-range to behind the arc, and attacking defenders off the dribble, make him a threat to score from anywhere. Impacts the defensive end with his quickness. Is already on the recruiting boards of plenty mid to high majors.
In the second spot is
Ma'Shy Hill (Hendrickson HS)
. At 6'8", the athletic center showed several times that he is on the verge of a breakout campaign, being impactful on the defensive side, swatting shots and clearing the glass. Is still developing offensively, and if he makes those offensive strides will become a mid to high major prospect. Above average athlete with a D1 frame already, that should only get stronger.
True point guard
Jamyron Keller (Killeen Ellison HS)
who was a monster and similar to Lewis, helped carry the Eagles to a 35 win season and a regional final appearance. The 6'1" floor general is a dual threat. Inside and out, can fill up the stat sheet, and is a blur off the dribble. Great court vision and will find an open teammate. His quickness causes opposing slower guards all sorts of match-ups problems.
Since September, when we first saw
Jaylen Crocker-Johnson (Warren HS),
he's shown tremendous work ethic by trimming down. At 6'7" he's still a tough load down low on the block, and will use either hand to score on you in close. Has a soft touch and a bit of old school flavor as he'll use the backboard to his advantage. With his wide frame will take up space in the paint. Has been impressive in displaying his ability to get out in transition and run the floor. On the defensive end, has a knack for hitting the boards.
Rounding out our Top 5 is combo guard
Santiago Ochoa (Antonian HS)
. Played primarily off the ball for the TAPPS 5A runner-up, but showed plenty of times that he is more than capable of handling the ball. Has an impressive scoring repertoire, slashing to the hoop, nice mid-range, and will knock it down from well beyond the arc. Great poise for a freshman, plays like a mature upperclassmen.
