Important Information - 2018 season

LNJL Families,

ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?!?!?!?!?  Well, not really, but the process has begun.  Registration is open online and our off season conditioning program is starting in a couple of weeks.  We had a great year last year and look forward to building on that success and getting better for this coming season.  We have a great group of Head Coaches and will be putting together our staffs in the coming months.

In the hopes of making our program more competitive and improving on the lessons of last year, we will be making some improvements to our program and systems we use as a program.  The Lake Nona Jr Lions are in a HIGHLY COMPETITIVE conference and compete with many teams that recruit and/or have try outs!!!  Some of those changes are listed below and we will be in communication in the near future with more details:

Program updates/changes:

·        Open registration for all athletes, new and returning (opened 03/26/18)
·        We have been working with Coach Paradiso at LNHS to further integrate into the Lake Nona High School Football system – more details to follow
·        We will be having 2, voluntary, off season conditioning programs, in conjunction with the LNHS team and coaches
o   First session starts Tuesday, 04/24/18  and ends 05/08/18 at LNHS
o   Second session starts 06/05/18 and ends 06/19/18 at LNHS
o   We will be working on speed and agility as well as prepping the players for evaluations at our First Annual Lake Nona Jr Lion Combine
o   You will need an active AAU membership to participate in the offseason program to ensure insurance coverage – more details to follow.  If you played last year, you are covered, but if you are a new playert, there will be a process to get you registered with AAU and will be a small fee associated (around $20)

·        We will have the LNJL Combine on 06/23/18 to evaluate all the players
·        We are capping our teams this year at 25 players, with a hard cap of 30 players
·        There is a possibility, depending on registration numbers and evaluations, that we will be making cuts before the season

o   Players that don’t make the team will know before July 4th and we will work to provide you options to get into a more developmental environment
o   This will ensure that all of the players on the roster get more plays!!!
o   If you do not make the roster, your money will be fully reimbursed

·        First day of practice at Valencia CC – 08/01/18
·        Jamboree  - 08/18/18
·        First Game – 08/25/18
·        Last Game – 10/13/18
·        FYFCL Championship Game – 11/10/18
·        AAU National Tournament – 12/13/18 thru 12/16/18
·        Please check the website for updates!!!!!

Thank you for your support and we look forward to seeing the players out there soon for our free, voluntary, off season conditioning program.

Lake Nona Jr Lions Football!

Lake Nona Junior Lions Football is committed to excellence through youth sports.  We go to great lengths to ensure that our coaches are properly trained and certified so that they are teaching and coaching the safest and most effective blocking and tackling techniques utilized in the game today.   To that end, we are proud of our long-standing relationships with both AAU and USA Football that offer ongoing training and annual certification of our coaches through the Heads Up Tackling Program.  Our coaches are trained to teach to make certain that proper blocking and tackling techniques are taught, implemented and followed as your child progresses through the organization.

Lake Nona Junior Lions’ coaches are committed to fostering and developing athletic skills on the field, but also critical life skills that will allow your student-athlete to succeed in the locker room, classroom and eventually, the board room.  Those skills include but are not limited to proper treatment of others, being a good teammate, timeliness, responsibility, respect, self-discipline, self-respect, pride, time management and leadership.

It is because of Lake Nona Junior Lions’ commitment to excellence that from the inception of our program we have set an expectation of ACHIEVEMENT. Lake Nona Junior Lions football teams have  claimed AAU National Championships in 2010 and 2012 respectively.
Additionally, the  Lake Nona Junior Lions organization has been the foundation and proving grounds for several All-State and All-American student-athletes and community leaders who are now competing collegiately:  Tucker Israel, QB, Clemson University,  Andre Hale, RB, Southern Mississippi University and JD Rice, OL, Airforce Academy.
