Grove City Lacrosse Club - Coaching Requirements
GCLC is required to have a background check and a concussion certificate on file for all assigned volunteers and /or coaches. The screening process is not required of those parents who are sitting at practices to watch their child(ren) and offer to help out occasionally while an approved volunteer and/or coach is present. It is also not required of those who help in administrative roles (scorekeepers or snack organizers, for example). It is meant for those leading the team. At least one approved volunteer and/or coach assigned to the team must be in attendance at all games/practices. If a substitute is needed, another parent must register and complete the screening process.
Volunteers and/or coaches must authorize a background screening from our contracted vendor at the expense of GCLC and submit a valid completion certificate from an approved concussion safety course. Program directors/commissioners must enforce these requirements and will delay the release of rosters, schedules, uniforms and/or equipment until all coaches in their program have complied.
Coaches must demonstrate and apply leadership, integrity, responsibility, self-control, knowledge of lacrosse rules and regulations, honesty and sportsmanship at all times on and off the playing field.

Please note that background checks previously completed for another organization will not be accepted for this purpose. Results will be provided to the GCLC, and will remain confidential.
Concussion Certification
All head or assistant coaches must take one of the free online training courses listed below and submit a paper or electronic copy of the completion certificate to GCLC. We ask our coaches to take the NFHS course but will accept the CDC certification. Your certificate is good for three years from the date of completion.
