Summerfield All-Star Program - The Summerfield Stars
We are excited to announce some changes to the All-Star program this season for the Pinto and Mustang age groups.
Goals of All Star program: increase opportunity for our top level players to play at a higher level of competition within our program.
What is changing:
Pinto: We will form one 8U team in March. This team will practice once per week during the regular season and participate in 2-3 weekend tournaments. This team will continue to play over the summer as one of our traditional All Star teams playing in another 4-6 tournaments. This team will continue playing in the fall if there is interest from the families. In addition we will form one all-star team at the end of the recreation season that will play over the summer as in the past.
Mustang: We will form on 9U and one 10U team in March. These teams will practice once per week during the regular season and participate in 3-4 weekend tournaments during the regular season and an additional 4-6 tournaments over the summer. It is anticipated that these teams will continue to play together in the fall. At this time we do not anticipate forming a third all star team to play just over the summer.
Evaluation dates: March 11th and March 18th. Times and location to be determined.
Softball: teams forming soon!
Player selection: Players must be current players in SRA rec to be eligible (must play on a 2017 Spring rec baseball team to play on Summerfield Stars team). Players will be eligible for the league in which they are registered (see registration information for birthday cutoffs). Evaluations will be run by SRA board members and their delegates who do not have a child trying out for group in question. Players who earn a spot will be on the team for the duration of the calendar year. Players will have to reevaluate in 2018 to play the following season. Teams will consist of 11 players. Additional evaluations will be held in the summer and fall if any players chose to drop from the team for any reason.
Coach Selection: Anyone interested in being head coach must submit name to league Director prior to evaluations. Assistant coaches will be selected by head coach and approved by SRA board after teams are formed.
Cost: We are actively working on pricing out uniforms and tournaments. We will update final pricing as soon as we can. Cost will cover two shirts, two pants, two hats, two pairs of socks, one helmet, insurance and SRA field use. Tournaments do have gate fees/parking fees for spectators that will not be covered. Depending on number of tournaments played, teams may have to pay additional tournament entry fees.
