1st Grade Rules
1. 8 foot goals and 27.5 size basketball.
2. A game will be four 8 minute quarters.
3. The only time the clock will stop is at the 4 minute mark. This will allow coaches to sub players in and out.
4. No player should play the whole game. Each player should play an equal amount of time.
5. Each team will have 3 timeouts per game.
6. No free throw or foul outs.
7. One coach can be on the court with his or her team.
8. No fast breaks.
9. Safety line (3 point line): No player can be guarded outside the 3 point line. This line allows everyone a chance to bring the ball up the court without any defensive pressure.
10. Each team must play a zone defense.
11. All the rules of basketball will be called by a referee: out of bounds, walking, fouls, double dribble, etc...
2nd and 3rd Grade Rules
1. 9 foot goals (boys) and 8.5 foot goals (girls). Both groups will use a 27.5 size basketball.
2. A game will be four 8 minute quarters.
3. The clock DOES NOT stop unless: The last minute of the 1st and 3rd quarters or the last 2 minutes of the 2nd and 4th quarters.
4. Each team will have 3 timeouts per game.
5. Coaches will sub players in and out at the end of each quarter only. No subs will be made during a quarter unless a player is sick, injured, or everyone has played 2 full quarters.
6. The game will start with a jump ball. After the first jump ball alternate possession will be used on all tie-ups.
7. Team fouls: If a team reaches 7 total team fouls in a half the other team will be in the bonus. They will be awarded free throws (1 and 1). If a team reaches 10 total team fouls in a half the other team will be awarded a double bonus (2 free throws).
8. If a player receives 5 fouls he or she will foul out. They will not be allowed to play the remainder of the game.
9. No player can be guarded outside the 3 point line unless it's the last 2 minutes of the 2nd and 4th quarters. During the last 2 minutes of the 2nd and 4th quarters players can be guarded at half court.
10. Teams will play a 3 minute overtime if the game is tied at the end of regulation. One overtime period only. Each team will receive one extra time out in overtime.
